Exhaust Welding.

I have a steel bean can & jubilee clip special exhaust modification on my NSR125R.
And today, after surviving 3 months of faultless performance, it starts to come loose and I am riding a loud bike.

Not having much cash at the moment, and seeing the cost of new exhausts. I was wonderign if anyone has ever had an exhaust welded?

The hole is actually a split on the weld that was originally there. I have looked in the phone book, and there are a few welding firms nearby.

Anyone ever done this? What did it cost (I can take the exhaust off the bike and leave it with them)

If the metal is strong enough to be welded, and If you can prepare the job yourself, I would expect they would do it for £20. Shouldn't take them 5 minutes.

Yes, you must remember the exhaust does take alot of stick - Is it in a bad place that its gone through?
Can you replace that section?
Can you just fix the way it was before?
I'd personally just get another part.

Had mine done on my 1150GS, Stainless steel as well. It was at a back street garage that specialises in S/S exhausts. Fixed it no problem. Didn't want paying so gave him a few quid for a pint.

Be polite and you never know, you might get it done foc.

Theres a mig weld place near by so will ahev the exhaust off and take it round there. But in the mean time, it's got another bean can and some more jubilee clips for now!
