After a good old clean, I've heard some people basically just spray in WD40 through the fairing to give the engine and all a coating, thus preventing corossion. Anyone do this here? Any down sides?

The stink.

After a good old clean?

If the engine's dirty, just clean it again. Coated aluminium takes a while to go off/corrode.
