On my back Renthal sprocket that is.

Was giving it a clean the other day to find around 10 out of the 44 teeth have been sheared right off, all in different places! ?

Chain tension seems fine and have not noticed any difference while riding. Just wondered if anyone else had similar occurances with aluminium sprockets? thought Renthal were spose to be good quality. Always kept the chain lubed and adjusted.

Looks like it will be back to steel sprockets from now on.

So I can say in the short time of owning the bike, that the RSV is a tyre and sprocket eater! oh and it likes petrol! ££££

Any cheap bikes that don't cost an arm and a leg to keep on the road? Sad

I had one of those on a Yamaha Blundercat.
SHYTE!

They all hooked after about six months.

Alloy sprockets are great if you're racing but not practical for a road bike. The shop who sold it should have told you. Bstds. Evil or Very Mad

The idea is to shave grams off everything to make the bike kilos lighter.

Sprung and unsprung weight (Mass) voodoo.

Do not eat as many pies and you can then use steel sprockets again. Mr. Green

I'll keep my eye out on that one too. I've got renthals fitted to the rear because i was sold on the idea that they save weight blah de blah and your man said that it only cost 2 quid more than standard, so i went for it... i'll let you know in 6 months time regarding the wear of the sprocket. Mind you, it could just be the viscous power pulses of the thou doing that, but don't understand why a 600 shags the sprockets?

Aluminium is far softer than steel, so it just gets ground away in a relatively short time compared to steel sprockets.

If you're really worried about unsprung weight, then check out Tri-Metal Stealth sprockets from SuperSprox. They have an aluminium body with a ring of steel teeth. Best of both worlds.

Don't know if I'm talking rubbish now but do you wheelie a lot?

I put a Renthal sprocket on mine and it was fine until i started to wheelie, then i lost 3 teeth and the rest started to hook. Gone back to carbon steel sprockets now and it's fine. Thumbs Up

Do tend to pop up the odd 1st gear wheelie and do accelerate quite hard I spose, as I can't clutch it up.

Maybe thats the reason!
