 |
|
Hi all, We bought a bike from a instructor late last year, who said it was an Indian Import. All went fine until the MOT last week. The dealer had trouble obtaining parts, so I tried a little help from the internet.
David Silver spares emailed back after I sent him vin number and Engine Number, to the effect that the engine number is not a recognised Honda number, and said it looks like it's not a Honda after all! The carbs are stamped Shang-Hai, which implies China to me, and although I'm no expert, the bike does look every inch like a Honda CB125T.
Anyone any ideas where I should go with this? My wife needs the bike to gain practice before putting in for her DAS, and we need to get it through it's MOT. It failed on a faulty indicator switch and a rear shock.
Help please!! ____________________ Currently Moto Guzzi 750 Strada, Moto Guzzi V35 Florida, previously Honda CB125T, RD250LC, RD80MX |

Thanks Kal. When MOT'd they didn't fail it on the shock, but after investigating the electrics they later told me that they had decided the rear shock was in need of replacement also. When I went to pick the bike back up, he showed me how they decided, which consists of pushing the bike down on the rear and judging how springy it is. Really scientific..... I'm inclined to get the switchgear sorted, and take it elsewhere for a retest, and see if they think any different.
Someone will probably now tell me that I can't do that..... ____________________ Currently Moto Guzzi 750 Strada, Moto Guzzi V35 Florida, previously Honda CB125T, RD250LC, RD80MX |

eBay is your friend...
However David Silver can supply switchgear for £15
And there is nothing to stop you getting a retest at another station. ____________________ Kal...

I don't want to worry you unnecessarily, but my supposedly brand new CB125T blew up after about 5000 miles (engine seized). Thankfully (for me) I had sold it on by then, but the poor bloke who bought it then had the same issue where he found out that it wasn’t really a CB125T after all. They are pretty much perfect copies, but the guts are made of chewing gum and sticky backed plastic.
I would patch it up, eBay it and get a CG125 pronto |

well ive got good news and bad news, it is and it isnt a Honda it is a Jialing-Honda CB125t
look familiar ? first image
dont worry it is a honda just that its made under liscence by the looks of things
jialing honda webby
look at the bottom post in this link
this could be the reason why your frame and engine numbers arent recognised as honda ones but still it should mean that most CB125t parts should fit ____________________ Current - Fazer 600

Extremely useful info, thanks guys.
Our plan - get through the DAS, then get rid. 350 Guzzi waiting for repairs then there'll be no more need for a 125. ____________________ Currently Moto Guzzi 750 Strada, Moto Guzzi V35 Florida, previously Honda CB125T, RD250LC, RD80MX |
