Is it me or do most if not all of us have a little ritual we perform before we get on the bike or after we get off?

When I say ritual, I dont mean an Indian sun dance (Although I may start if this rain keeps up) but silly little things.

Whenever I get on the bike I always give the tank a little pat before I start her up, nothing to obvious.

The main thing I always do and never fail to do is give the little a beasty a pat (Like you would pat a good dawg on the head) and say well done after a ride out and I am back safe and sound. Dont know why.

Maybe I need a straight jacket? Laughing

Do any of you have silly little routines?!

Not really a ritual but I hate riding dirty bikes so I tend to wash mine before I go out. I spray grease the rear sprocket before I ride too.

I have to turn the ignition on and off 15 times, and if anyone disturbs me or I get it wrong I have to start again.

I'm joking, I don't have any superstitions, other than I don't like getting on and off the 'high' side of the bike when it's on the sidestand, but that's obvious really.

I'm starting to get obsessive about checking that the side stand is up whenever I'm about to go for a ride, but thats mainly because I've stalled due to the side stand switch so many times when trying to pull away Embarassed

Like Gazdaman, I also hate getting on and off the bike on the high side... but mainly cos I'm pretty short.

I do the same but touch the rear instead.

I'm always looking at the huge chicken strips and seeing whether they have shrunken and whether the tyre is actually hot after trying to ride 'hard'. Laughing

Thats exactly what i do! Laughing

Constantly checking my zips are up and helmet straps. Otherwise i always kick-start the bike then get off and put my gear on, by the time i have my gear on the bikes warmed up.

I used to too, but since my ignition stopped working(won't kill the engine, have to stall it) I don't do that, I just leave, my side stand down and don't remember to bring it up. And It seems to have become a ritual for me run out of petrol about 1/4 of a mile from my destination, I do fill it up, but obviously not frequent enough Laughing

Not really though of it as a ritual but there is something I do every time I go out on the bike.

I sit myself on the bike and before I put my gloves on I stick my hand down my pants and get the “equipment” into a comfortable position.

You can get some odd looks but a dislocated tactical is no laughing matter.

Gah. Pockets.

*check pockets*
*unlock bike*
*check pockets*
*start up, mount*
*check pockets*
*ride off*
*check pockets*
...
Neutral

Very twitchy about that, and I can't rationalise it at all... Rolling Eyes
