This is asked quite regularly.

List what you guys recommend and where from etc.

Personally, I reckon two piece leathers offer the best protection and the most practicality.
One piece could be annoying (practical, human issues like going to the toilet, hot days etc).

However, I'm sure lots of others have other opinions. Decide when you will be riding your bike and match the clothing to your needs! Very Happy

Inside right leg ripped on the footpeg. Riossi basically said "blah blah blah NO" when I asked about getting them repaired/ replaced under the warrenty. Frank Thomas seem to be impossible to contact direct? Confused

It's currently got a few layers of gaffer tape there, although it is on the inside of my leg, and inside my boot. Still pretty crappy Evil or Very Mad

I got 2-piece Spada Leathers From Dex. Cost £310 in all and have been great. Come with some of the best armour I've seen. The velcro and zips have taken the most hammer but they're still lasting.
Got some Diadora boots which have been fine for 1 1/2 years but need some new ones now.
Frank Thomas winter gloves which are excellent and fairly cheap. Spada Summer gloves from Riossi which were cheap-ish (£40 I think), they looks as good and have all the same protection as more expensive gloves.

I have Frank Thomas gloves, Aqua I think they are.

They've been brilliant for two years, kept me reasonably warm and dry (except for on the day of my test when it rained heavily all day and I got drenched and they filled up with water from the inside becuase my Not So "Waterproof" Frank Thomas jecket leaked!) from that day on they've smelt a little bit, nothing that talc hasn't cured though.

Boots, Alpine Stars SMX's, these are great. The armour saved my ankles being snapped, they're very comfortable, and I'm quite happy walking around all day in them (only problem, they SQUEAK so much people actually turn and look at you, ah well, at least they get out of your way!).

Roof BOXER R05:

The build quality of my helmet is very good, the finish on the top is first class, the visor looks as though it could take a beating and still not crack. Seat belt style clip which is easy to put on.

Putting the helmet on has got easier every time, at first it was ripping my ears off but it seems fine now. But once you have put it on, you have to take it off, this is still hurting me now Sad. It is very comfy to ride in however, it fits my head perfectly and doesn't wobble about at all.

You can wear the helmet either full face or half, passes all the current E laws but has no ACU sticker so it can't be used for racing, but how often do i race?

The styling is a little odd but when i'm riding round everyone has a look at me, combined with my loud exhaust i think near enough everyone has a look!

A concern i have is the chin protection, G warned me that i was a little flimsy; he was sorta wrong. The chin is very strong but is held down by two buttons. I have tested it to some extent and it didn't budge.

Problems i have had: at 90mph+ there is a slight breeze getting through the visor, but when i got home i realised i hadn't shut it properly! so i will test it again. It is about half as noisy as my previous Caberg J1+ but that was a really naff helmet for attempting to reduce noise.

Looks(depends on person): 8/10
Comfort: 8/10
Build quality: 9/10
Fit(depends on person): 9/10
overall: 8.5/10

Alpinestars 2 piece suit

Don't know what it is called, it has a V more or less across the front Rolling Eyes I think its called the P1.

When i first bought it, it was a little stiff (oo err) but this soon went and stretched a little. When buying make sure it fits really well. I bought mine and it has about 1mm gap around my legs and arms, there is no chance of the armour moving around in a crash.

The protection is CE certified or what ever, it certainly feels very strong. It has duble stitching in most areas and triple in some important areas such as the zip. The leather is 1.4-2mm i think but don't quote me on that.

The one thing i did notice is that it has no back protection hardly, i have spoken to a few places that just say italians don't put much protection in, they usually want you to buy that extra. In the year i have been wearing it almost i have had no problems with it, ripping or otherwise, It has been made very well!

Very comfy to ride in after they have stretched a little, more practical than a 1 piece, i just remove the jacket when needed.

Bad things about it is the fact it has 2 pockets inside the jacket, both which have no zip, so when i take it all off after a ride everything falls out of them. They also weigh a tonne which i imagine most do though. it's not very good when you sweat though, it dry's up like a prune and sticks to you really badly. Have never ridden in the wet in it so have no idea what it is like wet.

Comfort: 8/10
Protection: 7/10
Fit: 9/10
Style: 9/10
Build quality 10/10
overall: 8.75(i think)

i've got 2 piece Hein Gerricke girls leathers and sidi boots - I'm pretty sure all Sidi boots squeak, cos I don't know anyone with Sidi boots that do not squeak! However, I love my vertebrai boots and they stopped squeaking after a bit Smile

Roof R010 Daytona (no- its nothing to do with the type of bike I have Wink ) Quiet as any lid I've ever used.
Hein gericke Tribal 2-piece leathers. Hein gericke consistently come out well in leathers and armour test. In fact Hiprotec armour is the only type of armour that RiDE has ever tested that works in more than one impact.
Alpinestars SM-X, cos I like to look like a storm trooper with good taste in labels.
Akito Carbon Track gloves, cos they're RiDE recommended and they only cost £50

Triumph Classic jacket, for when I don't want to go the full leathers route (Not arrived yet but on order)
Alt Berg motorcycle boots, for winter. Waterproof, look like black walking boots and quite protective.
Cheapo armoured waterproof trousers (£60 from the NEC) protected me in a spill a few months back.
Smile

Bieffe helmet here, not sure the model but car helmet one apparently. I don't rate it one bit. The fit, wind noise, visor and view out of the helmet are absolutely shite! Don't get one my next helmet will be a roof or simpson helmet.
Leathers are hein gericke couldn't ask for anything more other than perhaps more flexibility so I can move around in the more effortlessly.

Its windy cos its a car helmet.

A word of warning for everyone, stay away from Frank Thomas gloves, i paid 60 quid for some about 4 months ago and the stitching is already coming apart, the left thump has a hole in it where the stitching has come out completley, i am stuck with these gloves until payday because im skint. I wonder if Frank Thomas would buy me a new thumb if i hurt it in an accident. Wankers! Oh and infinity are shite aswell.

Actually it's made for go-kart racing. But they don't tend to go over 100mph.
