I am about to buy two new tyres for my 04 cbr600rr,can anybody suggest what might be good options as there are so many dual compounds, triple compounds etc. etc. on the market. I dont class myself as a knee down merchant or anything i just want good mileage from whatever anyone can reccommend.

Avon storms - ST55 + 56.

Triple compound dookies, with silica stuff yeah yeah you can read all that fancy stuff on their website.

But - last ages, stick like glue, excellent in the rain and great at high speeds or turning quickly.

Had my knee down with them (brown pants time coming off the motorway), emergency braked in the rain with no complaints or sliding, dont weave like some tyres at high speeds, and you can flick the bike round like its on slicks. Not too expensive either Smile

Dunlop Qualifiers last about 3500-4000 miles and have ample grip for the roads, more grip and confidence than you actually need. But you wont see more than 4000 miles from them though. There's another thread further down the page commenting about sports touring tyres and which one to pick for a supersports 600. Also, my mate was given 3 types of tyres to test on an issue of bike (Ron Barge - Duke 749) and admitted that he felt comfortable on the racer rep (BT 002 /supercorsa types) but shockingly rated the sports touring (BT 020 / Pirelli diablo strada) in front of the sports (BT 014/Qualifier type) because the profiles of the sports tourer are almost similar to the race reps. The sport road tyres are more steeper in profile, but since this guy was a noob, he probably wouldn't have been able to fully exploit the sports tyres - yes, i've been on a few ride outs with this guy on his duke and my ZXR250 was more than a match for him on the corners.

just dont get a diablo strada rear -.-

its good tyre untill you come to 100mph+ corners where you need to crank it over a little bit more and rear tire runs out of grip before you run out of tire, good for touring i suspect but no good for road racing wasted £100 on it coz im off to buy a supercorsa lol

well i dint have a problem with the diablo, apart from my bike ate it in about 1500 miles.

thats why i put the diablo strada on (touring tyre) which im finding useless.

thats why im going for a supercorsa next lol

I vote Metzeler Sportec M1's.
I have a '02 CBR and have recently fitted them so cannot comment on tyre life yet but the performance is amazing!
They heat up quickly and they're so sticky i'm pretty sure I could ride upside down. They were £180-the-pair and great value for money.

I had Dunlops on before and could not get on with them at all but I know thats not necessarily a popular opinion.
