i took the mirrors and the wee screen off the bandit today to give them a clean up.....and it looks the sex without them on....

i'm concidering (sp) getting some bar end mirrors but i'm in two minds about the extra width when filtering. How much of a difference will they make?

cheers

what bars are on it? standard or renthals?

i had them on my bandit, didnt bother me, there only about 2 inches longer so it didnt make much of a difference.
The bigger problem was actualy using them, they were crap.

Go for it, see what you think.

Steve.

.....and it looks the sex without them on....

If that's the case, why replace them? Shoulder checks won't ruin the look of the bike. Just a thought....................

Yep.

I haven't had mirrors on my XT600 for years (bar plonking one on for the MOT)..

It looks a lot better without them.

Just remember to lifesaver like heck. Smile

i've just been out for a quick spin without any mirrors on, the amount of times i looked at the place were the mirror would have been was insane.

Rolling Eyes

just as an after thought, were do the traffic bobbies stand on mirror - less - ness? I suppose as long as a check is performed it shouldn't matter too much....

Mirrors aren't a legal requirement.

And as far as I'm aware you don't need mirrors to pass the MOT but if you have one and not two (or none) then it is a fail. But don't hold me up to it as I'm not sure.

I've seen really tiny pisstakey mirrors before, convex things that worked well enough on the immediate area to your side/rear, might be worth a look, I'm sure they'd be easy to hide for looks and might be helpful the way mirrors are..

Wrong , one is allowed , our bike passed its ,MOT with only one ( right hand side) and that was at a quite strict test center.

Took mirrors off my Bandit, looks so much better. Obviously more checks will have to be made.
OH keeps saying to get mirrors again, but TBH I prefer the look without them.

its the old form over function chesnut..........mirrors give you an extra clue as to the crazy cage sat on your back wheel, but look out of place on most bikes ( especially the bandit mirrors, which are wack at the best of times ).

i took the bandit off my mirrors they look fine now.
turns out it was the bike making the mirrors look bad.
however i am all in favor of mirrors that work and on my bandit the mirrors work quite well.
on my r1 they were less than useless.
after some alterations i now have mirrors that work(although they look pissed because they are at different heights).
bar end mirrors are cack, you might as well save your money and do without.

I wanted to change to bar end mirrors on the CB1, whipped off the standard items and ordered some bar enders. Rode for a week without mirrors, bar ends arrived, didn't fit, so kept them off. Prefer the look of the bike without, plus the bike's a little narrower. Haven't ridden with them since, haven't had any problems either...

Got some Motrax "universal" bar end mirrors for sale......

mirrors are not a legal requirement or an MOT failure. you can pass an mot with 2 mirrors, one mirror or no mirrors.

I thought that if a vehicle was built with mirrors it had to have them fitted (or at least one) to pass an MOT. I may be wrong of course.

https://www.oberon-performance.co.uk/acatalog/motorcycle-mirrors.html Check these guys out as they have some good looking and well machined bar end mirrors.

I'll be getting some for my R1 so I can get through narrower gaps when filtering.

How would adding a mirror the your bar ends make the bike any narrower? Confused Surely it would stick out more?

The only problem I had with my mirrors is anything above 50mph they would shake/vibrate so bad I would end up spending more time trying to see if a car was behind or not, so I would opt to shoulder check twice before I moved over.
I like bar end mirrors but IMO it could make it worse for me filtering.
Some universal mirrors out there that are lower then the original bandit ones (which are quite high) but not sure if to splash my cash and it makes the bike look worse off.

If I go with these mirrors https://www.oberon-performance.co.uk/acatalog/adjustable-handlebar-clamp.html they only stick out an inch at the most from the bar. Being a sports bike the bars are very narrow anyway. Also the original mirrors are quite wide and the same height as car mirrors.
