Turning 17....looking for some advice?

hi guys, will be turning 17 in a few months and at the moment have a dna 50 Very Happy

I'm really into biking and am just wondering what size bikes I can ride at 17 and what tests I need to take to ride them?

On a CBT you can ride a 125 restricted to 14.66bhp on L plates or if you take your A2 test a 33bhp restricted bike.

Check the sticky at the top of this "New Bikers" section for in depth details on what you can and cant ride, age restrictions, power restrictions ect ec. Laughing

I'd start off on a 125(Honda NSR) as it's it's more power than a 50, but not enough to get you in the trouble a big bike can, less speed so more time in most situations. It should be cheap, god condition and hold it's resale value. Just try not to buy a brand new bike Thumbs Up

(biggest depreciation is brand new)

The advantage of buying brand new is that you will often get free or heavily subsidised insurance. My Yamaha was £1695 new and came with free TPO insurance but I upgraded this to fully comp for £250 which saved me about £500 if I had got insurance seperately. This made it worth getting a new bike for me and you also get free roadside assistance, the full warranty and you know no-one has been pissing around on it.
