i start my summer job on monday nite, the glass works on the other side of town.......and i've got a slow puncture on the front...........

the idea of the job was to earn enough to set the bike up for the next academic years commuting, so i was going to spend the wages on new front and rear tyres, a new end can and high level link pipe, some braided hoses, wavey disks and a new seat. But at the minuite i am brassed!

how reliable is tyre weld/other quick (cheep) fixes for short commutes? Its a five mile stint on 30mph roads to the works and back.....

problem is, after a 10 hour shift it'd be flat..............the worst case scenario is BMXing for a week untill i get paid enough to replace both front and rear (may as well get it out of the way).

i suppose the bike withdrawal and extra pent up aggression will help me through the hours though eh

A BMX will be healthy for you since putting tyre slime or any puncture prevention on the front wheel is known to have inherent effects on wheel balance and stability and was strongly advised against it by my mechanic. You could plug it maybe?

Hi,

My friend recently got a slow puncture in the back tyre of his fazer. He bought a product called Ultraseal. He had to take the valve core out, put it in, reinsert the valve core and pump it up.

Ride on it for 5 mins and then pump it up again. It did seal the punture.

The manufactures claim that it will seal existing puntures and if you have a punture on the road you will loose around 3-4psi but then it will self seal. My mate is very pleased with it.

The negative points are

As Jack_Cheese said some people say that the tyres go out of balance (My mate did not find this but then only put in back tyre)

Makes a mess of the tyre and wheel when you change tyres thus needs a good clean up.

Ultraseal when doing a forum search seems the best product. SLIME is not rated so well.

ive got tire weld in my back tire and ive been doing 150+ mph on it no probs.

same with my mate who has a tl1000r hes had it even longer with no probs and goes the same speeds as me
