A confused rider lol

Hello new to the forums and relatively new to biking (7 months experience) pass my motorcycle theory test and am going to do my practical sometime soon.
Currently have my Mito which is a good bike, but at the sametime very gutless outside the powerband. I have ridden a couple of bikes, but not entirely sure what to get next i been looking at all sorts: VFR400, ZXR400, ZXR250 (cheaper to insure), SV650s, Kawasaki Xanthus looks nice.
I have a relatively good idea what all those bikes will go like except the Xanthus, which appears very rare.
Problem with the Mito like all 2 strokes its no good outside the powerband, which makes me think i should get a bike with a better spread of power. At the same time i don't want to lose that high end rush you get when it hits the powerband = big grin.
I will be using the bike for a bit of commuting as well as the odd 30 min journey up to the city on mainly 60mph roads (Countryside so no shops down here expect woolies and Co-op)
I don't mind if it gets uncomfortable after an hour or so i would just like it to be fun. Heres a picture of the Xanthus as if your like me you will think what on earth is a Xanthus?

Ok thanks for the responses and yea i do like the look of the Xanthus, but i'd imagine to own one it will be hard to find parts for it

If you really want a Xanthus (sorry, I've never heard of it either!) then have a search on the net for parts availability and also insurance. If it's an import or not a well-known bike some companies can sometimes get a bit funny about it.

On first look it reminds me slightly of a Zephyr or Hornet. If you like this styling, then why not try one of these instead?

I prefer the Xanthus over the Hornet and the Zephyr, but im thinking at the moment its either this or the SV650 although i think the SV650 will be more convenient because it is a well known bike and good bang for the buck. Will find out which through how much each will cost to insure

The Xanthus is a Kawasaki using the ZR400 engine.

In the UK we get the ZR1000 which is identical in looks, just the bigger engine.

Getting parts should not be a problem, but it is an import model only, however most engine and service parts should be compatible with most of the Kawasaki range and cycle parts should be pretty much the same as its larger stablemate which is/was imported into the UK.

Being a Kawasaki it should bve pretty much bullet proof, and like the ZZR400 (which I believe uses the same engine) the state of tune should be mild enough but grunty enough to provide lots of fun without scaring yourself.

Might just be the cargo hooks in the rear plastics though.
