the GPZ is a sports tourer. Its very comfy and good for distance.

The Ninja should be a ZXR 400 or ZX4R not a GPZ for the Ninja!

The GPz's were the original Ninjas, before the zx's came along.

I believe the difference is purely in some insurance persons head. I've often got asked if my zx6/9 was the ninja model or not, despite the fact they've all been ninjas.

I could be wrong, keith will know for sure, but i think that Kawasaki did a GPZ400 home market bike, which was near enough identical to the uk GPZ500 twin, but just 100cc less. But they also did a GPZ400R Ninja in-line 4, which was like a smaller GPZ600R, and was to compete with the FZ400, and VF400R models. I remember seeing one at a bike shop a few years ago, and i think they are quite quick, well about the same as a GPZ500 anyway.

Hi

Yes there is a GPZ400 twin, although not sure what it was called on all markets (mau have been known as EX400).

There is also the GPZ400 that is a sleived down version of the GPZ600. Could well be badged Ninja, as Kawasaki have badged plenty of sports bikes with that name in different markets over the years (first Ninja I know of was the GPZ900R).

All the best

Keith
