Its fast, handles great... im in love! I duno if bikes are made like this, or if i need a new clutch, but if im just cruising in 2nd gear and open up the throttle, should the motor rev up and then slowly drop down as the bike accelerates until the bikes speed and motor match and begins accelerating at a much faster rate? Or is my clutch just slipping?

Some people have been saying crotch-rockets are designed this way so you dont get tossed on your ass when you open her up.

Hi

Sounds like it needs new clutch plates, and if it is the same as the FZ750 then it is an easy job (easier than changing the spark plugs).

All the best

If the FZ750 is anything like my YZF, then it isn't too bad to get at the sparkplugs so long as you disconnect the top radiator and let it hang out of the way. The pain in the arse bit is taking all the fairing panels IMO. (I am comparing this to the difficulty of the NC30 sparkplugs, the front two are a nightmare to get at).

Hi

The FZ750 engine is basically the same as the YZF750 like yours Stew. Getting a plug spanner that will fit is not easy. Getting at the plugs so that you can turn them more than 1/6 of a turn at a time is also not easy.

Clutch plates were a doddle though.

All the best

Keith

i pulled off the cover for the clutch last night, i see its a dry clutch.... im assuming from what another forum person told me, my clutch pads must have glazed over from sitting for about 3 years with no fluids in the motor and not beeing run, so they got dry, and when i got ahold of it i glazed em.

I dont think ill have a problem with the changing clutch though.

Quick question, i was messin around on some distant back roads today (dont have plates, and back roads around here are nomans land for "the man"), and it seemed like it was running out of gas, i would open it wide open, start goin and then the motor would just lose all of its power...

So it took me a while to think to switch to the reserve, which worked like a charm. BUT! i just put 2 gallons in it this mornign!!! isnt the reserve on the FZR600 1 gallon? and i was only goin for about 10-15 minutes when it started to die....

It isn't a dry clutch, but the old level (from memory) is such that on the side stand it is below the level of the clutch basket.

For the fuel issue I would be tempted to drain the fuel tank. Reserve is 0.9 US gallons. It is possible that water has collected with the fuel, plus old petrol can go off quite quickly.

All the best

Yes, but they are small US gallons. So that is 3 dollars for about 7.5L (which would cost around $8.50 in the UK).

Worst of it is that in the UK they are now talking about ramping VED up throught the roof.

All the best

Close. Around 80% of the cost of fuel is tax. That means something like 400% tax is paid on the fuel!

All the best
