Ok guys, I’m buying a stress reliever.
The gun smith in town has very little choice, most of the guns are real fire arms.
They have a Crossman rifle with the large C02 canisters, 12 shot semi auto.
Night Stalker
£145
It’s a decent gun, no thrills, just point and shoot. You can buy accessories for it.
The only other one I was interested in was the Rat Catcher pro, but I don’t like single shot.
Do any of you guys know of some online stores, or just link to a similar weapon to the Crossman.
My budget is £150 and must be C02. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Could you explain pre charged?
I'm so undecided, i like the idea of shoot as fast as you can pull the trigger, but that Crossman puts out around 6-8ftlbs. Im wanting to cap piegons and such so it pushes me towards a decent rifle. ____________________ Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

I had a Crossman pistol some years ago, and never had any problems with it IIRC.
Mine was a pneumatic pump up airgun though...
My other alternative was a limited edition Weirauch HW45... and a BSA break barrel rifle that was a predecessor to the BSA Supersport
As far as power is concerned, is the legal limit still 12 ft/lbs??
I seem to remember my rifle was just over 11ft/lbs, and although I can't remember the details about the Weirauch, it was apparently the most powerful pistol you could buy at the time
EDIT : My guns were all single shot though...
and were bought thru Keens Tackle & Guns, who I've just found have an online fleabay store ____________________ 1st bike (Sept'06 - May'10) : 1991 GPZ500S / Current bike (since Nov 2009) : 2003 Suzuki Bandit 600N

I had a crossman CO2 pistol, the seal always broke and it leaked gas. Also after the first 10 or so shots it starts losing power and gets dull! Mine was probably an off though, when they work they're great fun and make a great noise when its a fresh cylinder!
My bro has all kinds of guns now - revolvers, underlevers, 22 semi auto (my favourite ) and some big sniper rifle thing .308?? I'll try get pics up he's mad about guns.
PS - if anyone wants a 357 revolver blank firer PM me an offer. makes an awesome noise and scares the shit out of people. ____________________ 2012 KTM EXC 250

i prefer paintball or airsoft , having someone hunting you while you do the same thing is such a buzz plus the newer guns can shoot up to 30bps at 300fps ____________________ they say life begins at 40 but i think it begins at 140 !!!!!!!

after 8 years of air gun experience you get to realise the following:
CO2 guns have no power
CO2 semi auto guns have no power and are just shit
spring powered guns have no power and are slow and shit
however...
spring powered guns WITH SPRINGS FROM A DIFFERENT RIFLE are nice and powerful, slow as shit, but you can still shoot through a cow.
so yeah, get an illegal spring gun, theyre pretty schmart. ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. My eldest lad (9) has gotten into shooting. I bought a very cheap .22 and that was fine, until we discovered his late great grandpa's .22 in the cellar. This is a gun marked simply 'foreign', but has the most amazing power I have ever seen in an air rifle. The story goes that he had the spring replaced many years ago with an illegal one, then simply greased it up and put it away. I don't know what's in it, but it needs one hell of a pull to load and smashes the pellets to oblivion!
Just thought I'd mention it... oh, he can hit a 10p piece blue-tacked onto a wall at 10m without a scope, which is shit-hot in my book... anybody trying to get into our garage will lose their ears! ____________________ Now - Speed Triple, old ratty GS550, GSXR750M

Those are the ones, air pistol fights? as in shooting at each other?
i seem to recall the tabloids saying jill dandos killer was supposedly have used a converted one as well as them being used in various other shootings etc.
were they actually any good as just an air gun though? the rifles looked awesome especially the matt black one you could strip into tiny little bits. |
they were the most powerful motherfucking air guns about!
the one we had shattered a ceramic bird table... we ran away.
my friend who owned it had a gay brother though (no we didnt shoot him) but he gave it to the police when they got banned :'( ____________________ Blue_SV650S wrote: it was a sh1te wheelie, but it proves that he can get it up in 3rd and can do angles. Airguns. You get two main types, pneumatic and spring powered.
Pneumatic ones are usually either precharged by using a pump or a diving cylinder. The advantage of a pneumatic air rifle is that it is recoil free. The disadvantage is the charging, pump-up ones usually require two or three pumps. Pre-charged ones only hold so much charge then require refilling.
Spring air rifles use either a conventional spring or a gas-ram. These have a significant amount of recoil but are generally slightly lighter. They only take one stroke to reload. There are two main types of these. Break barrel and fixed barrel. Break barrel ones are cocked by pivoting the barrel down and loading the pellet directly into the breach. Fixed barrel ones are cocked using a seperate lever and the pellet is loaded using a tap or drop-loading breach.
The fixed barrel ones are more inherantly accurate but are heavier and take slightly longer to load.
Most full-legal power air rifles are single shot. Semi-automatic ones tend to be more for 'plinking' (shooting inanimate abjects for fun). There are a few full-power ones that are self-loading from a magazine but they require cocking each time. If you intend to hunt live quarry with them, you should be killing them with a single shot, as such, a single shot rifle is appropriate.
Then there is callibre. There are several .177", .22" and .25" being the most common. The .177" fires a smaller pellet. As such it is lighter, goes faster, penetrates the target further and has a flatter trajectory as well as a greater effective range.
The .22" is a slower, heavier pellet. It doesn't have the same penetration as the .177" but imparts greater 'shock' to the target (ie, it hits them 'harder').
The .25" is a very heavy pellet. It has a short range but imparts a lot of shock.
Traditionally for hunting you would use either a .177" or .22" for quarry like rabbits and birds. The .177" is probably slightly better for birds, a chest-shot .22" can bounce off the feathers. The .22" is probably better for rabbits because it does more damage when it hits. They tend to stop dead while they seem to be able to run for a while after being hit by a .177" (despite being dead with a pellet in the brain). .25" is usually reserved for close-up vermin work like shooting rats with flathead pellets (knocks them flying).
There is also .20" which is a compromise between the first two, it is uncommon and difficult to get amunition for, which is a shame because it's a better 'all round' calliber.
You shouldn't shoot at anything alive unless you are sure you're going to kill it. This means being able to hit a pound-coin sized 'kill zone'. Only shoot out to a range where you can hit that every time.
I persoanlly have a .177" BSA supersport carbine. I chose this because the smaller calliber makes it easier to shoot at varying ranges. I chose a very short break barrel so it can be quickly and easily reloaded in a small space (such as a hide) while still having room for a largeish silencer on the end. The short barrel also helps correct my tendancy to 'snatch' a shot. I use a 4x40 wide-angle bushnell scope which is frankly, plenty enough magnification for the effective range of the weapon. Parallax adjustment would have been nice as this doubles up as a range finder.
EDIT: If you want a totally awesome hunting outfit, the theoben rapid 7 takes some beating. It is a precharged pneumatic with a detachable 'buddy bottle' for the air (so it can be swapped when empty). Built in sound moderator and seven shot magazine. Very, very nice air rifle. Depends if you're made of money though.
If you are made of money, get one with a custom-made 'bullpup' style stock, like this one:
