Was getting changed into my leathers in our bedroom when we heard a snapping sort of noise.
Looked out the window and two gus had just snapped the steering lock on my boyfriends YBR.
I had barely any time to shout on oi before they started running off with it Evil or Very Mad .
Cue me being stupid, I legged it down there bare foot and bare legged Embarassed what I was going to do I don't know, probably be laughed at but a girls got to try Rolling Eyes .
naturally by the time I got down there they had disappeared down an alley and were no where to be seen.
I asked random people walking past but no one had seen anything Neutral .

Found my boyfriend and phoned the police.
I will never tolerate someone saying a bad word against them again I swear Smile.
They were down to our flat within 5/10 minutes, riot van and everything!
Anyway one of the cops took our details etc while the other drove around the area looking about.
On a third time driving down this road he noticed a new addition to a little alleyway, the bike!

We all went down there (was about 2 mins from the flat Shocked ) and saw that they had originally stashed it in one of the rubbish shed things but had then moved it outside and put it on the stand Neutral .
So very nice of them to do that, not even a scratch on the bike Rolling Eyes .
Though naturally the steering and ignition has to be repaired.

I had thought about taking my bike up to my parents house but have no chained the bikes together and to a lamp post Cool .
My boyfriend reckons they didn't nick my bike because of the pink grips, so all of you invest in some! Laughing .

Anyway just thought I'd share my night of terror, fury and guilt.
Fear because duh I was scared of getting kicked in or my bike being nicked, anger = they took our bike! (ours as we always ride around together Embarassed ).
Guilt because I was glad it wasn't my bike being stolen.
Does that make me a really bad person Confused .

I don't know about you lot but I always thought it would never happen to me.
When I first had the bike I was tight about chaining it and stuff but for a while now I haven't even taken my chain to work.
But it has happened and I never in a million years thought I'd react the way I did.
I'm not even an aggressive or brave person (unless you see me in the morning before coffee Laughing ) so running after two guys nicking a bike has shocked the hell out of me!
Also my clear head keeping, I didn't panic at all.

Oh and yes they were chavy looking Evil or Very Mad .

Anyone else done daft things when seeing their bike being nicked?
I mean we're always told to not give chase but even me a short little mouse went all mental.
I know none of you want to think it but it can happen to you, doesn't matter what make the bike is or CC.
Don't be lax and take risks, chain the bit*h up in awkward ways.
If they want to pinch it at least make it hard for them Smile.
Take care everyone Smile.
Oh and sorry for the long post, I see some of you snoring at the back you know! Wink .

You're absolutely right...you'll never know how you're going to react unless you're in that situation yourself.

You reacted on pure instinct. Good on ya, and I'm glad that the bike is back in one piece and - most importantly - that you're OK. Thumbs Up

Guy few doors down used to have a moto-x style bike locked up outside his house. Anyway, was on the computer one night and all I heard from outside was some bickering, shouting and two guys legging it past with the bike when I looked out the window.

Family run out, dressing gowns, half states of undress etc. Father type guy calls for someone to call the cop and he piles into his car to give chase. So they stand around for a bit waiting for the cops whilst I can hear the car zooming round the area looking for the bike.

Ok, nothing particularly funny yet - but 5 mins later when the cops were there taking details etc. the two yobs ride past on the bike, in front of the family and the cops just to take the piss. Family and cops didnt do a thing, they were all shocked that the two were brave enough to ride past on a bike they had stolen 10 minuites ago, in front of the family and the cops.

Never did find out the outcome of it all...

Thumbs Up Karma for the nakedness!

I woke up one after falling asleep in the frontroom one day to hear my CGs starter being kicked over. I raced out of the front door and cuaught a father/son chav act attempting to start my CG. A yell of "oi!" and a flying me out of the front door saw them throw CeeGee to the floor and leg it.

Fortunately I was wearing jeans, but that was all I was wearing. Took a good four months and a new wiring loom from Honda to get her right again. They kicked the starter over three times - she'd start first or second kick every time - she just didn't want to be stolen.

I did have a pair of boxers on, not that they did much good Rolling Eyes Confused .
Not very dignified holding a pair of pants up while giving chase =/.
I can't believe they rode past the family Shocked .
Thanks for the replies Smile.

That reminds me of the time that a mate of mine heard a couple of drunk chavs pinching his wheelie bin and pushing it down the road. He didn't have much on so grabbed the nearest item of clothing and gave chase.

What a 6' tall, 6' wide bloke with a big beard and long hair looked like sprinting down the road in his girlfriend's pink pajama bottoms I don't know, but the chavs ran off in terror and he got his bin back...!

Well done for giving chase, glad it worked out for the best. Even my crappy little Peugeot scooter gets a steering lock, immobiliser, chain, cable lock and a disc lock (inside a garage). God knows what I’ll do if I ever get a big bike that I actually like Shocked (armed guards?)

For educational purposes only you understand, but is there a specific time of day / night where the risk of someone attempting to steal your bike might result in a Benny Hill sort of semi naked chase?

I'm always willing to put myself out and test the new security system when the old bf isn't about. I would also be willing to leave a selection of suitable 'woman's' wear by the door should you wish to try out the suitability of various attire in a not particularly high speed chase senario?

Offers there if you want?

Be even better if you could do some of that Charlies Angels kung fooey stuff?

Oh yeah, well done btw, sometimes you have to learn the hard way but at least it wasn't yours that got damaged.

Yea I did feel a bit guilty for being glad it wasn't my bike =/.
I was so paranoid bout my bike that while his bike was still AWOL we took the remaining chains and chained every available part of my bike.
Took about 15 minutes to get to the different locks Neutral .

Get yourself a cheap, simple alarm off ebay, maybe one of the pager type, and a couple of bike covers.

It won't stop anyone trying but it will help just that little bit more.

two words to sum it all up..... "bloooody chaaaaaavs".... !

if only we could round them all up in a room and hang them one by one by their hoodies, and attach their poxy mopeds on their feets for the extra weight!

I lock my bike outside my house but I got my own motion detector..who loves to hunt down chaavs in the park and scare the pants off them!

here is is on the lookout for chaaaavs:

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v449/atashahbazi/1.jpg

here he is waiting for a chaav to come past so he can pick up that log and beat them to a pulse with it:

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v449/atashahbazi/shaba11.jpg

and here he is when he wants to scare the craap out of a chaaav:

https://img.photobucket.com/albums/v449/atashahbazi/Shaba6.jpg

and yes he is stil only a pup so chaaavs BEWARE!!! Thumbs Up

Cool Nicky imagine if you didnt know you could have lost your bike, good going!

No one would even dare to come near my house its like fort knocks, security systems everywhere and a big dog guarding and lots of locks. I feel safer that way.

I remeber years ago when me nd my EX where having a drink and getting stoned one night and suddenly i snapped round at 4am and said "your car is being stolen" i didnt hear anything i just spat out them words, i wasnt even drunk just smoking. Anyway he jumped up looked out window and there where 4 chavs getting into the car! and another car load at the bottom of the road! he flipped! ( he thought he was rambo Rolling Eyes grabbed the night stick and ran outside chasing the car rolling away, they where trying to start it aswell, broke 3 of there arms battering them while they where running and getting into another car, while they tried to pass me i threw a brick threw their windscreen Wink

I was just angry at the thieving Idiots and was sper of the moment thing, Thank got though EX is gone he was a psycho though Rolling Eyes

Excuse the following vulgar comment:

You should have yelled "Stop, I need to flash my boobs." at them. If it didn't stall them, you'd no doubt find them down the pub telling the tale. Win win.
