Hi all!

Quick question...
I have an interview next week and this comprises of this type of test

What can I expect?
It's only for an admin job, but I am a tad nervous as my maths is 'okay' but not red hot.
Is it do-able?

Thanks

JO

If it isn't doable for you now, you're not going to learn maths in a week.

From experience, they're mostly statistics based. You'll get a few graphs and tables of data, and they'll ask you questions on it.

Like, "what was the average monthly profit for 2004?"

Or, what is the % yeild for product X in April 2003?

etc.

I had an interview as an information analyst a little while ago, which had a numerical test as part of the interview. The job itself involves a large amount of data manipulation to aid the analysis, and the test consisted of calculating percentages, mean, mode and median (plus a written park explaining what the numbers meant).

I'm pretty sure your daughter would manage the test, you'll have no problems. Just don't panic and try to make it more complicated than it is. Very Happy

I did one quite a while ago but it was pretty simple stuff and you were allowed a calculator, don't feel bad if you don't finish it, better to have all correct answers on what you did than finish with half of your answers being wrong.

I think the tests are designed almost not to be finished.

The amount of questions to complete and the short time frame puts immense pressure on you, thats the point.

Just relax and READ the question!

Maths isn't that hard <touches wood and looks sheepish>, be logical and just take your time.

As Shaun has said, 5 questions answered correctly and methodically out of 10 is much better than all 10 questions answered with only a few correct.

EDIT

If it helps, I have gone through the application process for the Police several times only to pull out at the last minute as something has happened in my life.

You have to do a maths exam in this, the questions are really simple so if the entrance exam for a PC is easy then one for an admin job will be a breeze Wink
