MOT INSURANCE LAW TYPE THINGY

Just wondering, are their any laws which state that you may not carry a pillion if on route to an MOT? Thanks.

I don't think you're meant to be on the road without an MOT....... I don't think the pillionness makes a difference.

I am pretty sure if you have the correct liscencing, insurance and tax that you are covered to travel to your MOT, but i am unsure wether this allows a pillion.

I stated to the MOT.

If going to a ARRANGED Mot, IE your bike is booked in with the test center you can ride it there , but you are not allowed to take a pillion with you.

I think your allowed to take a pillion, it makes no real difference to the test and the fact that you have no mot. Your allowed to drive/ride to the mot station and also to a pre arranged place that will carry out repairs for the test.
Even still, on the back of the vt30 failure sheet it does say you 'may' still be prosecuted for riding without mot. But most coppers wont care as long as you are on your way to an mot.

You are allowed to ride to a pre-arranged MOT without a current MOT or tax disc as long as you have insurance, and your insurance covers you to ride without MOT (keep that in mind as some don't and you may need to call them and arrange it with them too.)

There are no rules about taking a pillion.

Yes you can take a pillion, its just like taking a car for an MOT with a passenger.

VERA 1994 shedule 2 states.

That you can take a vehicle to/from a pre-booked test centre.

It does not state that you are not allowed passengers, it does not specify where the vehicle has to go from or to.

I've had two MoT testers not be aware what the law was.

Oh and if you fail you can not only take the vehicle home under its own power but you can also take it to a pre-booked mechanic to get the problems sorted out.
