Guess the (old) bike

I've seen a few 'guess the bike' pics on here and most of them have been of bits of bikes. This one is of my old bike that I learnt to drive solo on.

Looks like an old Matchless to me, but I may well be wrong.

I do love to look at old bikes, it reminds me how lucky I am to own modern ones Laughing

You're both right. Perhaps it was the badge that gave it away?! It's a 250 Matchless G2CSR, the biggest 250 on the road at the time I believe and the bike I learned to ride solo on. In those days learners could ride anything solo up to 250cc. It used to have ape handlebars and an orange tank until I met a car side on and did a little bit of damage to it So off came the (now twisted0 handlebars to be replaced by a more suitable set and the scratched paintwork on the tank revealed this chrome underneath so off all that came too. Ah, memories.
