We need to act now before its too late (petition closes 18th July 2007)
Don't know if you have heard about this but Ken Livingstone is apparently
planning to use tax payer's money to build an enormous mosque costing an
estimated £100M in the docklands.
Wouldn't it be better to spend the money on a new hospital or improved
transport facilities? Anything but such a scheme as this:
The mosque will be BIGGER THAN ST PAUL'S!!!
The plan is for the mosque to be so big so that people flying in from all
over the world for the 2012 Olympics will see it as the biggest landmark in
London , bigger than St Pauls, Westminster Abbey or Wembley Stadium.
The vote so far is 56 % in favour. It looks like the Muslim community in the
UK is casting its vote in droves, and as usual the British are burying their
heads in the sand....
It is an undemocratic use of British Tax payer¹s money, especially when our
Churches that are 100's of years old get no government funding to keep their
structures standing, and we are supposedly a Christian Nation.
To vote to "Scrap the 'Mega-Mosque" please sign the official Government
petition in the link below.
https://petitions.pm.gov.uk/ScrapMegaMosque/#detail
After voting, forward this to as many people as you
can. |

Do a search, there's at least one thread on it, and it's not all our taxpayers money, a lot of the donation money is private investment(you know, like the organizations that will use it). Try a current affairs section, it was covered. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Did all 220,000 people who have signed the petition fail to notice the following highly significant statement:
"With respect to the proposal associated with a site near the Olympic development in Newham, we understand from Newham Council that there is no current planning permission or application for a mosque and Newham Council do not expect a planning application in the near future"??
What is the petition actually petitioning against? |

Well i never seem to have problems when i go back to Indonesia (prolly the most populous muslim country) and I'm Catholic . it's all this propaganda that's adding fuel to the fire on both sides. Can you remember back in the 90's when this weren't an issue? It's all the shit-stirring like this that causes friction and tension between groups which would have otherwise existed in harmony. I feel the same way whenever i go back to Indonesia, people get opinionated; usually the more intelligent of us will rise through it, but those who can only take things at face value will inevitably show their bias and the cycle continues. To be honest, when i used to live in East Ham up until 1992, it wasn't quite a bad place to live in, still pretty much the cockney ends of london. I fail to see this plan materialising since they have sufficient mosques to support the pouplation - in some cases, old disused churches/disbanded parishes have been used as mosques. Meh, it's all a buch of bollocks to stirr shit up with but i believe in ____________________ The Tot 2019 Z1000SX - 2007 R1

For what it's worth. My oppinion is that the state has no place whatsoever funding a religious building or institution of any sort.
I include mosques, churches, faith schools or even support for religiously based charities.
If people believe in it that strongly, they should fund it themselves. Most religions teach some variation of tithing, if they were to practice what they preach, there would be no need for state funding. If they don't make enough from this, there obviously aren't enough people interested to justify the expense.
What annoys me more than a potential huge spend on a large mosque is the fact that my tax money is used to fund Catholic Schools up and down the country. If you want your kids to go to a Catholic school, you should have to pay for it, or the Catholic church should, they have plenty money. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. Er...Actually, muslim terrorists have been busy murdering people, in the name of their 'peaceful' religion, around the globe since at least the early '70s.
I recall a little incident at the Munich Olympics in 1972, where 11 or 12 people were murdered by palestinian terrorists.
I also seem to remember, a fair few plane hijackings which involved these lovely misunderstood people, that happened over 30 odd years ago.
Muslim terrorism, has been around for decades, and it ain't gonna disappear tomorrow. The main reason is, they live by a religious teaching that has hardly changed since Medieval times.
You only have to see the way they react, en mass, to things like cartoons of their prophet etc, to see how backward the muslim religion is.

I absolutely despise racism, and people referring to ethnic minorities, or majorities for that matter, as 'them' or 'they' in a derogatory sense. People need to grow up and realize that there is people different in the world to you, and just because there is a difference, they should not abuse them.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that it could be spent 'better' on a hospital or school, for you racists, it's just because it is a mosque. Grow the fuck up you cretins. |
As for you, the ranting spittle-flecked obligatory lover of the 'racist' word, do you not realise that Islam is a religion, and not a race.
In fact, as has been pointed out before, there are brown, black & white muslims.
You are right in pointing out that "there is people different in the world" (sic), but many of us would rather travel the world to meet them, rather than have vast tracts of our own country, turned into miniature versions of foreign lands, as I have pointed out on here before.
Also, the fact that immigrants to this country are not obliged to abide by the British customs and ideals, gets up the noses of many. Particularly when we, the British, are instead virtually forced to except their 'ways'. |
