Hi
I have a 1200 Bandit, bought new in 1997 in blue without a fairing. Engines seem to last well, although the cams can wear out apparently. Build quality is not good (they are built down to a price). Performance is fine, but without a fairing I doubt I will ever try for top speed (had 125 out of it fairly easily, but it gets very uncomfortable). 0-60 is meant to be about 2.9 seconds and top speed is meant to be 140~145mph. Gearboxs are meant to be good (nobody told my gearbox that). Brakes are good (back the back caliper will seize up, with the pad locating pins seizing into the caliper). Handling is not going to set the world on fire, and it is set up quite soft (which is not too bad for me, as I only weigh 10 stone, and the Bimota is set up far too firm for me at the moment). Seat is comfy, but a bit soft. Personally the bars could do with being 2cm lower. Carries a pillion with ease.
Round town it is a doddle to ride. Loads of low down power, fairly narrow and quite stable. Easy to cut through traffic. Power picks up properly at 7K, but that is 125ish in top.
All the best
