I just got quoted

One payment:

£ 453.12 *per year

For a 92' TZR 125. Im currently with churchall but how would i haggle them down and what would i say?
Im kind of wimpy and afraid of them saying go on then, go somewhere else.

How could i say it and how could i get them down even further. Its third party only with a N.C.B *Got my scoot back in feb*

Its kind of expensive but i really would like it under 300 Smile
Thanks for any replys

My friends son insured his NSR for £300. He had no NCB and 6 points. (SP30s)

He is insured with MCE.

But, don't use there website for a quote, they are way off estimate. Best thing to do is give them a ring.

Thumbs Up

*EDIT* NSR125 - 18yrs old - Provisional licence - TP only.

They won't really bring the price down much if you haggle, they will probs give you extra cover at best, ie Europian cover.

The only other way to get cheaper is to lie and say so have it garaged, under 24hr CCTV with a big black guy named Ben as a security guard.

They are actually offering better prices if your black security gaurd is called Leeroy, Jermaine or Marlon. Wink

i discovered the hard way that your premium goes up if the black security guard is called,

louise, Jenna or Kelly-anne

so i fired them and got myself Trevor who actually got bennets to pay me!!

You'll probably just have to pay up and get your no-claim discount going.

Ring around and sometimes you can play one against the other,
Also if there's a small insurance broker near you they might be able to do some special deal so do try them.
MCE seem competitive at the moment.
Don't be tempted to tell porkies about where the bike is kept as in teh event of a claim they will check up!
In fact some of the things they ask don't individually make all that much difference to the premium.

Insurance now-a-days is pathetic, and then they wonder why young peopleride/drive without it! Rolling Eyes

I'm amazed Bennets do so well. The last few years I've been
insured through Ebike. £110 TPFT + breakdown + legal aid. This year the quote was the same but they've taken breakdown off so I had a look around. Bennets wanted £600 Shocked.

Went with MCE in the end £150 fully comp for three bikes +breakdown+legal aid.

I used these to get an idea of where to start looking
https://www.thebikeinsurer.co.uk
https://www.motorcycledirect.co.uk/

Always knock a bit off the cheapest quote you've had if another company asks. Because they couldn't beat the cheapest quote MCE added breakdown and legal aid for 'free'.

If your only going for TP cover use the cheapest backstreet company you can find, it doesn't matter how bad they are, your never going to claim off them.

Check out the excess you'll have to pay if you make a claim. If the bike is only worth £500 is a TPFT policy worth having if the excess is £300 or more?

Here are the most competitive THIRD PARTY ONLY annual premiums we could find for you.

(YAMAHA TZR 125 - 124CC)
Premium Insurer/Product Excess
£310.48
The National Insurance and Guarantee Corporation

now thats ALOT better than bennets!

Is there a site for MCE?
I have seen MCD but is that different?

Edit. Nvm i got this quote from MCE

We are able to offer you a premium of £306.99
I can see this is going to be the lowest now lol

MCD asked if i had a disk lock but MCE dont.
Thanks guys for all your help Smile

I was on a newish cg125 with 6 points IN10 and went from about a grand to 308 odd quid with MCE.

Same thing again last year with the CBR600.

Buy a bike mag and just ring anyone and everyone with a free number, it only takes 40 odd minutes and you'll save yourself an absolute fortune.

Bennets were rubbish for me personally but that's probably more to do with my IN10 and them being a mainstream dealer - MCE have always had disgustingly low premiums for me but that is AFTER haggling even them down for a good old 20 minutes. You don't actually haggle you just tell them that XYZ company is offering you a deal for whatever price and get them to beat it then ring back the other company and play one off the other until one says "youre taking the piss".

It also helps to get quotes at the end of the month as the departments will go lower to reach monthly sales targets - even better if you can insure over the holiday season, you pay more I think when getting insurance over summer when everyone wants it.

You have a clean license - one years NCB and riding a small bike, and only on TP! I wouldn't stop until that was around the £150-250 mark.

Nah i have 0 NCB i got my CBT done in feb this year Smile
Im going to ring up some companys now. Rang churchall and they said the absoloute lowest they would do it for was 411 so i said fuck that lol

If i dont get cheeper insurance then its going to be MCE Smile

Will try to waggle them down to around 275 Smile

Used to work in Admiral Insurance for car insurance over phone.... we couldn't bring the price down at all, what ever the computer said was the final price - would get plenty of ppl trying to lower it (just couldn't)...

Main thing is don't lie to bring down price by a few pounds, all companies have ways to find out (quite clever), if they don't have to pay out they wont...

Insurance sucks....buts its just one of those things....
