Just wondering how other owners of this bike find it ?

It's to date the weirdest bike i've owned / rode - it's a great one for pootling through town at 30mph in 5th gear - but once the revs pass 7K i find myself holding on for dear life and i find it difficult to comfortably change gear ( until it levels out at about 12k ).

Are they all like this ? other bikes i've had have always been constant power through the range not a burst like this .

It's great - but it's scary at the same time Laughing

Yea, I find the powerband kicks in a 7k on mine too. It takes a bit of thinking and gear work to make sure your in the powerband for coming out of corners etc, nut i find it helpfull, the bike is smooth and not snatchy at low speeds, so its good for around town.

Yes its an IL4 , Il4s do that they have little juice under 6000rpm (CBRs cept mine have a 5000-6000rpm flat spot to cheat the emissions and noise regs mine has been rejetted) , with other bikes with ram air pressurised intakes the power increases as the revs / speed increases, still you'll never use it 6000rpm in 4th gets me well over the 100 mark.

to get the front wheel up under power on a thundercat (which i used to own before some crack head stole it) and i'm assuming a cbr600f as well as they are tad chunky.

is to get the revs up to about 8k in first.. then drop the revs and snap the throttle back to the stop and the front will smoothly lift up.

happy days..

Unless you've got some crazy sprocket sizes that cant be right - 100mph in 4th at 6k would mean 200mph at the redline in 4th Wink

the ZX9 is about 6K in top at 90mph

probably maybe been sitting on the NTV all week, what was trying to emphasise was that IL4s all generate the power fairly high up in the rev band thing is at this rev band you are already going pretty quick!.

Lol... more to the point why are you in 5th doing 30... Neutral

Ive got a 96, at 30mph you should be in third (unless you wanna wheelie then sit in 2nd at 30 and clutch the fuck up Twisted Evil)

As for power of course if you're in a high gear and do a roll on it will spin up slowly to start (as the engines labourign hard) and eventually hit the bit where it makes good power and 'suddenly' speed up.

Try smoothly accelerating in just first/second, it will pick up, but not madly.

i find the power doesnt get serious untill about 8-9k, but i agree about changing gear, best done before 8-9k or at the redline Razz
