Need a cheap runaround. I currently have an MZ125 that i was going to use but i want something with *slightly* more street credability, i dont mean anything special but am looking to spend about 150 quid, ive looked on biketrader and to be honest it aint all that good for cheap bikes, any ideas where i could look??

You aint gonna get anything that has an MOT and street cred for £150 ya skinflint! Laughing

I'd spend at least £400 on a winter hack (except I don't have £400!)
oh well.

Anybody got an RGV250 for sale? Needs MOT +Tax. Willing to pay £300 Smile

Well you thunk wrong. Smile

I don't think that you'll be much more than a thrashed, stolen-recovered DT/KMX125/CG for £150 though. Confused

I thought that an MZ125 was a 125 crosser type thing?

ROFL Well Kris if i remember rightly your heap was slightly more heap like than mine Wink

Whats a realistic price to pay for a winter hack then, condition dont matter as long as it would pass an MOT and runs. Tin to be honest i dont know what it is, it looks like a cg?? Well a really old CG, the one i have is an old "K" reg. Only done 20k and aint in bad condition apart from the carb, just fancy something a bit better.... spose im hoping for that money though really.

Andrew,
I've been thinking about a winter hack for ages, and this time last year there was an article in BIKE about winter hacks by their second hand expert geezer, and he reckoned that anything with an MOT is worth over £300.
He also said that the best places to look were free ads, local papers, newsagents windows, any notice boards places like that.

The reason why is you don't want to go for a specialist bike publication because prices are high due to the fact that people who read/advertise in them know what bikes are worth.

He also said that you can't be too picky and an MZ 125 sounds fine to me.

If you really need a different bike, then try putting an ad in the freeads or newsagents windows saying

"Wanted: Do you have an old motorbike/moped lying around taking up space? I'll take it off of your hands for up to £200 cash (subject to condition) Must have MOT."

That might throw up a few useful leads.
