Hi. Last year, well 10th July to be precise, someone ran into the back of me causing slight damage to both my bike and the womans car, we exchanged details , did all the phone calls, making letters, etc. But the last time the insurance companies were in touch was last October. I mean, how long do insurance company's normally take to settle a claim? I mean it's been over a year now since the accident happened?!
I'm probably going to have to phone them up soon, see what their playing at!
Thanks.

Ring them in the morning, ask what's happening. No harm and then they are aware you are keeping tabs on them. Then ring every week and ask for an update. Make a pain of yourself and that may speed them up.

If its just the bike & car that were damaged then you should definitely call your solicitors to find out what the hell is taking so long for the case to get settled. Call them weekly so you're kept updated about progress and hassle them if stuff is happening.

If there's personal injuries involved then that'd explain why it's taking longer but you still should be being kept updated and knowing about what's happening.

Wtf? You were hit up the rear and and you havent been sorted yet? I was punted up the arse Razz badly and had a loan bike next day for a month whilst my bike was being fixed and also got 600 pounds for loss of earnings despite me only asking for 300.
Thinking But the lady did admit liability straight away so this may of helped speed things up. If its a non fault accident take the clown to the cleaners.... I'd be ringing them sharpish! Very Happy

Going through it at the moment. Insurance paid out on the bike in 4 weeks, personal injury claim is going quick.

Still awaiting for my payout from a serious crash back in May 2005. It was 100% his fault and he was prosecuted.

Got some money back for the bike and leathers a few months after but the injuries comp is still going through. They tried to settle at the end of last year but was a stupidly low amount so declined it. Solicitor is still working on it. (plus there were conditions set in about me passing a police medical)

Then, not so long ago, sort of same situation as yours... guy reversed into me, his fault, insurance paid out fully within 2 months

Will vary from case to case. Get back in contact with solicitor, other than that nothing else you can do but sit back and wait
