......I work in the world of broadcasting. I have tried Carole Nash Bennetts and Ebike but they have all refused me as its classed as Entertainment and they think I could be carrying celebrities! (I'm a music producer.)

They said I should contact "Big" insurance companies; the only thing is I don't know any. Does anyone else suffer with the same problem?

Surely you know people in the business who have the same problem as you? Why not ask them? Confused

I have and they all seem to avoid it slightly.. I don't like the idea of Insurance fraud to be honest.. Nasty fine!

You would be surprised how many jobs fit under entertainment, for example if you play football or rugby for a local team but it's a part time job you will be refused because of the high risk and the fact that you would be seen as an icon. Shocked so stupid. Also mobile discos and things like that.

EDIT: Just done a quote for a test saying I worked in a shop and my quote was £300 fully comp... that will be about £1300 fully comp with my tag Sad

You need to try more companies, I was refused by a few when I worked for a record label (I can't remember which ones unfortunately).

Never had any problem with AQuote/Elite or H&R for the bike though, might be worth trying them?

Try honda insurance. given me the lowest quotes for 2 bikes running. £320 tpft for a £3k r6, 2 months experience, 1 non-fault. I work in sales so I get penalised for being a bastard.

You're hardly going to be done for insurance fraud. If you don't carry celebs on the bike then tell them you're a painter and decorator and you're sorted.

Carole Nash and Bennetts are not insurance companies; they're brokers.

Try Norwich Union or Royal Sun Alliance - don't know if they do direct insurance or whether they're only available through brokers.

you could just bend the truth a wee bit.

For instance i work for pizza hut which the insurance companies will assume i will use my bike for which would be cool but im using scooters instead but they will charge me a fortune.

so...

I am now a shop assistant at a liscenced resturant, this is what pizza hut actually told me to say when i was going for insurance as they provide their own insurance for drivers so it really shouldnt have any effect with my non work insurance company but yet they will still charge extra.

I have had one crash so far on the way to work wearing my pizza hut stuff (i was in a car) and the fact that i work for pizza hut ddnt come up at all.

so bassically, how are the insurance people going to know what you actually work as?

You could have them quote you for a policy which specifically excludes the carrying of pillions. TBH most insurances cover for social domestic & pleasure plus commuting. I have to have Business-use 1 because I work on different building sites.

If you produce music can't you call yourself a "technician" (as in "sound technician") or something. One guy I know calls hmself an engineer, because they get lower quotes. He does demolition, so he calls himself a "building dismantling engineer".
