Ebay bike - issue with sellers advertised price

Hello all, not sure if this is the right part of the forum for this post but i'll be greatful if anyone could shine some light on a problem. Apologies for the topic name too, couldn't think what to call it

My friend has just clicked the 'buy it now' on a bike advertised for £1000 on ebay. the bike can be seen on this link here:

Ok, so all is well and my friend then proceeds to phone the guy up, get address details and arrange an appropriate pick up time. All in going fine until the guy says he'll not let the bike go for anything less than £1200. Confused

What's the deal with this, why advertise a buy it now price and then ask for MORE money after somebody agrees to your advertised price.?

My mate has been watching this bike for awhile now. it has purchased twice i believe by two other people who messed the seller around. One is mentioned on the advertisement page i think. So my mate sees the bike relisted once again this afternoon and the reserve was lowered even further and now had the added bonus of the 'buy it now' price mentioned above.

You would think with all this messing around the guy has had he would just want to get rid of the bike asap for a quick sale. How does this work now, since techincally my mate has agreed to buy the bike for his price, how does this all work if the seller is not willing to seperate with the bike for the price he set up Question

My mate is going to email the guy once he gets to my house later on but thought we would ask on here first. Does he have to inform ebay or something and how would you guys proceed from here. Neither of us have much experience with this sort of stuff so we were hoping some of you folks could kindly help us out if possible.

Interesting that the buy it now price is 1000 and in the description it says reserve of 1200. Put it down to experiance and move on is what I think

1. Click on the "Buy it now".
2. Arrange to meet, confirm the price before going.
3. If he puts the price up, leave negative feedback stating just facts, screwing up his 100% feedback.
4. Go buy another bike, Bandits are as common as pigeon shit.

Contact ebay and tell them that the seller has a buy it now price of £1000 and after your mate clicked on that the sellers says no its £1200. It does not matter what he says in the rest of the page. The fact is its a binding contract @ £1000.... His fault he got it wrong.
Big fat tough on him.
Make him suffer big time on it.

as you have clicked the buy it now link .............as far as ebay is concerned the bike has been sold and the sellar will have had the relevant fees deducted ................. as the guy (wrongly so) has decided to use the £1200. The only way the sellar can recoup fees is to inform ebay --in which case an email will be sent to the buyer *BOTH parties* have to agree -- sooooo get yer own back on the basstad!!!! Refuse to comply and even though you wont get the bike --the guy will have no chance getting fees back from ebay --then leave him neg !!! lol
