after fitting 1 new indicator (the indicator came with like little black thing i guess its a capacitor inside, so i fitted it)

anyway i notice my indicator would sometime stay on (i first noticed this after it had been raining quite heavily) so my first though was water by passing the capacitor (rapped the bitch in electrical tap)

still did it.....

then i noticed it seemed to happen after the indicator had been left on for a while eg waiting at some lights.... but the light stays on

my next idea is the capacitor cant charge in time
but if the capacitor couldnt charge in time wouldn't the light go off as there would be not electricity completing the circuit... no ?

there doesn't seem to be any capacitors (little black things) on any other indicators

*its not the connections they have all been crimped*

any ideas i would like to fix this before i sell the bike

and can someone explain how relay work on bikes :S maybe a drawning

are you talking about the turn signal relay??
or just an indicator (a bulb)
there is no capacitor at all to do with the indicator circuit
a usual circuit looks like this

thats a basic 3 wire setup, as you can see no cap.
what bike are we talking about here??

its a rs50 but its not standard indicators : / which is a bit of a pain

how would indicators flash if there was no capacitors ?

so are there 2 relay in the circuit ? one for each turn signal (left or right)

no capacitors, just a relay flicking on and off about once a second. there's only one relay, the bulbs the current goes to is controlled by the handlebat switch.

its not a rely in the way you are thinking of,
call it turn signal generator if hat makes it easier for you to get it Very Happy
that relay makes the signal to the lights.
it sounds like yours is bugered Thumbs Up
indicators are just bulbs it doesnt matter if they are standard or not,
unless they are led indys in which case they would be flashing really fast as they basically have no load.

Hi. Can you be specific about your problem, please? Is only your replacement indicator (the flashing light bit) faulty, or both on the replacement side, or does this non-flashing fault occur on both sides. Did you do anything other than replace the indicator (flashing bit with lens) itself?

I would guess that the black thing you speak of is an inline resistor if you have LED indicators.

The turn signal 'relay' has a capacitor and resistor inside it, which controls the flash time. All you will see is two or three pins coming out of the unit. That is the case with mine.

are all your indicators led??
if so your best bet is to get a relay that is designed for leds,
can be had for quite cheap on ebay
