Went to my local Morrisons after work, rode between 2 parked cars, into neutral, engine off and wheeled it to the side wall over the footpath so i couldnt be accused of riding on the footpath. Took my gloves and lid off before i moved away from the bike. I was wearing smart jeans, decent shoes and a plain white smart shirt. I had my padded armoured standard black jacket over the top of it but it was open (fooking hot). Carrying lid in my hand, my rucksack over my shoulder and was buying some sweets and a card (hmm macho)

People were taking a wider than normal distance round me, and when someone did bump into me they were extra applogetic. You know, like overly so.

Was walking around and people were looking at me, but making it look like they werent, i even checked my flies were done up, lol, paranoid... much... U know when someone doesnt trust you, but they dont want it to look like they dont...

Was a very trippy experiance, is it just me? or is this normal?

I`m not a small bloke, 5' 10", 16 / 17 stone, but come on... i`m hardly a tatoo'ed skin head with a sawn off shotgun...

My first experience in a shop when wearing bike stuff, was interesting. Didnt notice the same thing when i filled up with petrol the other day.

Gonna go in the car and see if i am just a scary person and havent noticed it before. Or as soon as i get on a bike i become a nutter. Smile

On a side note, Starburst Choozers are great. Smile

I get it all the time, I'm not small either, I'm 6ft5 and 15 stone so i think people move out the way because they don't want to be stepped on. Laughing

Think it's a general tall person/bike jacket thing. I get it all the time walking through Reading in my jacket.

I think its more likely that your so ugly that people won't get close in case its contagious or you just plain stink.

A lanky bloke on a CG doesn't really shout out HA does it? Jeez some of those electric wheelchair things are more menacing.

I get the stares in morrisons aswell Laughing

Especially from the chinky security guard that's a wee little man that never smiles. I even got asked once to take my shopping out the helmet as i use it as a basket, just ignored her and pretended i couldn't hear and carried on Very Happy

Although if you walk in with your helmet on, sawn-off shotgun in one hand and a sack in the other everyone seems normal......apart from all the screaming but i thought that was from all the bints facing the harsh reality that there was no heat magazine left.

Always get people in cages holding the door open for me at petrol stations and trying not to queue too close to me. It's kind of weird at first but I'm used to it now.

happens to me to.. Get stared at as i walk round anywhere. People staring at my feet. ( doesnt help that im a size 13 ) or just generally looking at me. If im walking towards a doorway theyll always stop. If i bump into someone they always apologise. Personally id just like to thank the hells angels for putting the fear of god into people regarding bikers! Very Happy I think it helps being 6'3 with a jacket that makes you look 2' wide.

It was probably because of your helmet hair. People were probably looking at you and thinking, "Fucking hell, look at his barnet! Hahaha...oh shit he has seen me staring, best look away." or, "Woah look at his hair. He is probably demented, best stay away."

Even as a female, when I was in Reading people did give me a wider berth for some reason when I was geared-up, so to speak.

Here on the Isle of Man, the world and his wife ride bikes here. You get strange looks if you AREN'T carrying a lid sometimes!! Laughing

I've noticed that a lot of people seem to give bikers preferential treatment when they're walking around. Whether it's out of respect or out of fear, I don't know.

People always hold doors open for me and such... Though that's probably because I'm usually trying to put my gloves inside my helmet whilst putting my keys in my pocket and trying to get my wallet out of another.

Either way, it's a shame that such behavior doesn't exist on the roads.
