I wonder if anyone can help me i have an N reg honda sh50 (1996)
I have serious problems with this bike, on saturday the starter motor jammed and was boosted by the AA thus caused the starter to burn out and its relay to fry Evil or Very Mad Anyway i bought a new starter and a new relay and the bike failed to start (starter spinning nicely, pulling crank round ok) i flattened the battery and jumped it from my booster pack, unfortunatly the boosters postitive lead came off the battery and touched the bikes metal frame, now i have nothing at all, no ignition nothing its totally dead. The one fuse i have found is ok (tested) any idea's? One shop wanted £200 just to look at it, without fixing the problem. Also i found out my partner put REDEX into it, but more than she should of done, would this have caused it not to fire up?
Any idea's what i would have to replace, to get ignition power back? The battery is testing at 12v with plenty of charge.

Do you have the owners manual or similar? 90% chance that its a fuse blown you just need to find them.

Was the redex added to the fuel, and by how much is too much? It generally shouldn't stop it starting. When you find the blown fuse just check the spark plug for fouling.

You've almost certainly busted a fuse. There will be more than one fuse, the one you've no doubt found is the one on the starter relay harness, but there will be another fuse box somewhere.

I have totally stripped this thing down and i have only found one fuse! Evil or Very Mad Surely a bike shouldnt have only one? could it be the rectifier?
I am really sorry but i havent a clue. The only thing i can think of is that this bike just refuses to run. I dont suppose a fuse could be hidden inside the wiring loom under cover???

You need a repair manual.

I have been dancing around the manuals bit of this thread and every diagram i have come to in the honda common sense manual states that power goes from battery to fuse to ignition to another fuse! I havent looked behind the headlight/under the dash. Any chance its under there?!?!? I am such a fool Embarassed
