Hi All!

Am new to the forums, so apologies if im doing anything wrong!

Iv got a B reg VF500 F2e, what a fantastic bike!! when it works!, It has been off the road for a couple of months now, as i was riding out with some friends, the bike felt as though it was seizing, although i really dont think it actually was, the power output just dropped, as a fool, i tried to restart it after about half an hour after, the engine turned over just fine, although with noo power, and a sound like lots of metel "thingeys" rattling around!
Does anybody have any idea what this could be, and how would I go about fixing it? I cant take it to a garage, as they want more than the bike is worth just to look at it, and I REALLY dont want to get rid of the bike!,

Any help at all would be great!! ta![/i]

they had cam chain issues with the adjusters etc they wer prone to throwing cam chains bending valves.oil starvation to the top end. and a royal pain in the ass to work on.

The early VFs are indeed known for engine issues.

A serious issue is poor oil feed to either the front or rear cylinder head (i cant remember which) leading to it eating the cams and rockers in that head.

The other is the gear selectors in the gearbox are weak and are prone to breakage-I briefly had a VF700, and that did this.
