Was coming back tonight from a ride to manchester to see family. Broken down half way back in leeds with a problematic HT Coil. Was at side of road quickly sorting it when i hear "Nurrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr". Look up and theres a ped going by to which i then hear "Nobheaddddddddd".

If i could of rode by bike, i felt like running him down lol.

Cheeky little chav !

Shame, they tried that on me aswell. Had one even fire one of those potatoe cannon things riding past the opposite way. Middle of the night so obviously no traffic, didnt see any harm in giving his front wheel a sharp kick on the way past.

His loss, his repair bill as well.

the worst is when they ride 2 wide to stop people overtaking. But you don't tarnish them all with the same brush because i know someone who rides a ped because he lives in a bad bus service area.

I rode wide when I had a scooter as driver really do overtake you dangerously, extremely dangerously sometimes.

Had them within inches of my handlebars etc. Trying to squeeze past you and traffic coming the other way, or going round blind bends overtaking and trying to swing back in when they have traffic. Riding wide is the only way to stop them and potentially save your life.

Try having a 18 wheeler overtake you on a normal urban road with traffic coming the other way.

They ask for trouble, but don't expect to get into any. There's a great deal of apathy with regards to standing up for yourself these days (and perhaps always - I don't know). Unfortunately, a good, firm punch to the face is probably the only way they learn; and I hate resorting to, or condoning violence.

There is a time and a place for violence, most chavs on peds do entice it and I know what you mean, often I see peds weaving in and out of traffic, filtering the wrong side of cars I mean down the inside and give them a heads up about potential harm(I'm no safety nazi) and they just say "yeah, whatever prick". what can you do?

I jumped off the back of the bike at a red light once, f-ing and blinding at two young African boys who were doing that in the middle of rush hour traffic in Marylebone Road once (and vaguely worrying, somewhere deep in my rage, that they might pull a knife on me, LOL).

Dunno who was more surprised, them or mr hellkat. He nearly dropped the bike from my fervour to jump off and on (due mostly to my not-inconsiderable size).

He shouted at me to get back on the bike, and we left them in our dust up the A40 flyover. I think they (and the surrounding traffic) were mostly just stunned at my vitriol.

It was about the second ride I had been on after having just got over a year of not-riding (even pillion) through fear of foolish clowns doing stupid things on the roads. So I was a tad *fraught*

Bloody idiots.

I was cut up at a junction by a ped rider recently. He tried to get away fruitlessly (ped vs GPz750R...) and was surprised when i ran him into the curb.

I once rode a mo-ped back when I was 16. When I was riding by public road, I rode respectfully. As soon as I was in a car park etc, admit idly It was straight up on one wheel though. Was my little stunter. Laughing

I must admit though, your average 16 year old who rides a "ped" is simply riding a scooter until he/she is old enough to do a driving test and buy a Nova/Corsa/Fiesta or similar.

They do ride around asking for trouble, Thinking they are unstop-able on their 4bhp hair drier. But unfortunately alot of people tar them all with the same brush.

There are some respectful riders out there who aren't old enough for a proper motorbike so are hitched with a moped for 12 months. But most of them are just "chavs" as we know them.

Quite right.

I, on the other hand, have no qualms about it.

Riding too wide? wft?

I can't blame ped bois for riding wide, its safer for them because it stops dickheads hogging their space when trying to overtake in tight traffic. It should make no difference whatsoever where their positioning is as long as they are in the correct lane. It might force people to think twice about their actions, they might actually overtake without endangering the lives of other road users.

Personally I have a ped because well I'm 16 and it is the only way i can get around on my own same as. I'm not a chav lol, but i see where your coming from with a lot of chavs do go round on the lil peds thinking there the fastest n most experienced know-it-alls on the road.

Personally can't wait to get my hands on a nice 125 bike, this is the same with a few of my mates...

He means two wide. i.e riding side by side in one lane.

I agree, at college me and one other person are the only people who have a 50cc bike and arent chavs, driving around in just a helmet. I'm also the only one who is getting a bigger bike. My mate was gonna get one too, but now he says hes had too many accidents so hes not. And i don't mean like driving into people i mean actually falling off. HOW CAN YOU FALL OFF WITH 4BHP.

Not got enough speed behind him. Seriously, the only time I ever dropped my moped was when I was putting it on the stand wrong. My brother on the same model moped used to fall off regularly, now he has a faster 125, he's not fallen off since.(I know this might just have been him.) When scooters go slow, they don't have the power to corner properly(bigger bike style)unless the rider is more adapt, then it's fine. Thumbs Up
