PostPosted: 13:11 - 06 Aug 2007    Post subject: Theory Test Changes from 1st Sept Reply with quote

May have already been posted and probably relevant to new bikers but...

From 1st Sept 07 the theory test marking system changes.
Current pass mark is 30 out of 35.
From Sept 1st it'll be 44 out of 50.

So, if you haven't already, get the theory test booked quick.

HTH Thumbs Up

I'm trying to! But is it as simple as take test on 31st August will mean out of 35 questions and take test on 1st September will be out of 50 questions?
Or does it depend on when you actually book your test? I.E Book now for 1st September would be 35 quesitons or 50 questions?

Thumbs Up

Actually it changes the 3rd of September, not the 1st.

Picky, picky, picky.
It's scheduled to change on the 1st. The 1st working day of September is however, the 3rd.

No, it depends when you sit the test. All tests after 1st Sept will be out of 50, 44 or above being the required pass mark.

Not true, not true. This thread gave me a Shocked shock that I rang the test centre up. I will still be under the old test system on 1st Sep and I paid for the old test fees not the new one. Don't go scaring people like that.

Ok, sorry. If test centre are saying that then fair play.

Goes against info I was given. Was under the impression they would only be doing one test.

All the more reason to get on and start booking them now then Thumbs Up

I don't see the big deal to be honest. I didn't only revise enough to only get 30 right; I practised until I could consistently get any question I was asked correct. Bumping it up to 50 shouldn't have much of an effect.

Only price-wise and time-wise - I'm having to take time out of work to do this, and the cheaper I get it the more I have to spend on the next bike! Very Happy

Fair comment. I didn't read about a price-increase.

is this change for cars too ? - I have been putting off learning to drive for years now. Also am I right in thinking that you must do practical within 2 years of theory ?

Yes, for cars too. I think it goes up from £22 to £28 or £28.50 something like that.

Every bit of information I've seen has pointed to it being from 3rd September onwards, not the 1st.

My mate has his Motorcycle theory on August 29th and my girlfriend has her car theory on August 30th thanks to me warning them Smile .
