Well...

I havent invested in a set of leathers yet, and im not exactly scared of corners. Its frustrating knowing that if you wanted to you could get your knee down, so yesterday. I came back off a ride to rivington. And found a roundabout, and leant over. More, more, more and more. Untill eventually i got my peg down Very Happy

When i was my mates today, we picked the bike up and leant it over untill the peg touched the floor and OMG! Shocked it really doesnt feel that crancked over when your riding.

Sorry about this, i just couldn't contain my excitement any more. I had too tell someone! it's amazing.

I supose what i really wanted to know, was are there many people that have done this?

Bearing in mind it wouldn't have been quite as far, because the bike was loaded(it had you on it), so the suspension was compressed.

Hang off more and gaffa tape some knee sliders to your leathers. Thumbs Up

EDIT-

I can do knee and peg at the same time. What do i vote??

You missed out toe. Wink

I cant edit the poll know anyway so meh. Forgot about suspension and compressions, still its pretty dam low and leant over. Just put the thing that youve got down thats lowest on the bike.... knee = higher than peg.

As mentioned, it depends a lot on the bike - for instance many cruisers will get their pegs down not much past the lean you have on the side stand.

Changing the suspension also makes a difference - and definitely as Big Ham mentions; the rider and the corner will compress the suspension.

I've had a peg touch down on my RS250 on track when the bike went into neutral going into a corner and so the rear was no longer under tension from the chain etc.

Personally, I'm still of the opinion that if you're hanging of decently on most sports bikes you shouldn't get anything down before you lose traction. Of course, some bikes do have excessively long hero blobs (Hondas are well known for this).

Hence why raising the rear is perferable to dropping the front. Gives the same effect, but with increased ground clearence.

Jeans - Motorway exit curving round to join another motorway - middle of the night so doing legal speeds obviously.

=

Chunk of my jeans gone, bloodied leg, brown pants from the suspension being very unhappy mid corner. Embarassed

Theres no need to get your knee down on public roads, as public roads arent designed for it and their surface is alot rougher. If your knee hits a pot hole say goodbye to your knee and your bike.

Instead of focusing on getting your knee down, try focusing on taking corners quicker in your own personal style.

And if your absolutely determined to get your knee down, dont wear jeans, and definately dont come down the M69 west and use the exit that flows onto the M6 north....i forgot how sharp it got.

Ground my rear brake lever off, got a new one and jacked rear up. Still can get pegs down while leant right off bike also (and kneedown). Dont fancy doing my elbow, means less leather on there for when I go down the road ... Laughing

You won't say that when you get leathers.

No it's not necessary, but it's bloody good fun!! Laughing

rougher= more abrasive = MORE GRIP!

Knee down on roundabouts shouldn't and don't count IMO, any monkey could do that. Track or twisty road then that's proper knee down, the Power Rangers are being overtaken by the Roundabout Warriors! Confused

Course it counts, where it happens doesn't mean it is or isn't 'done right'.

The only times I've ever got more than the toe of my boot down, I've been crashing.

And I only get that much down because I ride duck footed.. :quack:

Used to screw a bunch of short self-tappers into the ground off bit of my boots back in the day.. Firstly to stop them wearing down anymore, and secondly for ze sparks!

Gawd.. it seemed like so much fun back then. But now just makes me feel a right sad monkey.. Embarassed
