6 August 2007

We received a petition asking:

"We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Stop local councils charging for motorbike parking."

Details of Petition:

"Local councils increasingly see motorcyclists as money spinners. Charging for motorbike parking goes against the Government's stated policy of reducing congestion and increasing environmental awareness. Those who use two wheels liberate space for essential four wheeled traffic, especially in busy urban areas, so everyone enjoys a knock-on benefit from those who choose to ride a bike. Motorbikes are more efficient and produce less harmful emissions than other forms of motorized transport. Charging for bike parking will impact most on those least able to pay, pricing essential workers out of already expensive urban areas, especially in London and other UK cities. Please Mr Blair, don't allow local councils to charge motorbikes for parking, but urge them to take a holistic view of this issue and recognize the economic benefits of reduced congestion in the best interests of all the UK's city dwellers".

Government's response: "It is for each individual traffic authority to decide on what to charge for parking and the vehicles to which these charges should apply. The decisions by the traffic authority should reflect the objectives of their Local Transport Plan. The Government generally sees no reason why people using a parking place should not be expected to contribute towards the cost of providing and maintaining it, rather than the burden falling entirely on local council tax and business rate payers."

Oh, the parasites want a bit more of a contribution above and beyond income-tax, poll-tax, road-tax and gasoline-tax.

Take take take. Then take a bit more, and add a bit more take just for good measure.

The cost of maintaining a parking space? How much maintanence could a space possibly need!? I sure as hell don't see anyone coming out to resurface them every so often, or even brush them up.

Another case of them taking the publics opinion, ignoring them and saying fuck you. Those cheeky gits Rolling Eyes

It's going to keep happening until a certain few individuals get a petrol bomb through their windows.

Please Mr Blair...

How old is this petition? I hope Gordon hasn't heard of it yet, he's usually sniffing around where there's a quid to be made...

If everyone stopped using their own vehicles and went on public transport, pushbike or walked like the government say they want, a few things would happen.
1. Public transport would grind to a halt, but the price to use it would go even higher
2. Pushbike taxes would be introduced or something to get revenew from push bikes
3. Those that walked would become greater victims of muggings and street crime in general.
4. Many jobs would be lost as private transport creates many jobs.
5. The basic economy would go pear shaped.

All this is done in the name of Global warming, but the Earth is going through its own cycle. We as humans are just like the fleas on a dogs back, yes we are making the Earth untidy but the earth will do what it wants and how it wants and the is nothing we can do about it.
It is like the Western world is King Canute who tried to hold back the tide, he did twice a day (or was that the natural cycle of things ) and these new earth warriors who go on about your carbon footprint. Its like a new Zealot religion or The Emperors new Clothes ( if you cant see it then you must be thick, stupid and ignorant, but the clothes were not there just everyone fell for the bullshit and dare not say otherwise ) We are making the world untidy but Nature grabs what we have done and adapts, changes and then just gets on with it.
Rant over.
