Best in what respect?
They are both fairly similar bikes... in the end most cheap 125 sports bikes are just that... cheap 125 . |

And then theres alot of people that say 125's are inferior.
Bah its like most vechiles.
They exceed the abilities of the user.
I mean you'd really have to be one of the guys on the tracks to really test your own abilities.
Its like this if you gave an F1 driver an escort, and you yourself had say an audi TT, the F1 driver would give you a damn good run for your money i assure you
And like G said, the faster one would be the better rider. ____________________ Regards

Hi
Which model TZR and which model RG125?
I presume you mean the original TZR. This had a steel frame. Top speed is around 75 restricted and between 90 and 95 when derestricted. To derestrict them you need to fit the power valve kit. Some also seem to have had exhaust restrictors. You can do a bodge job of derestricting them but turning the power valve which gives you no low down power a a full power top end.
I will also presume you mean the original RG125, as you mentioned Gamma. These were VERY light. They would manage about 80mph when restricted, but derestricted they were about the same as the TZR. Very light. Very skinny tyres. Very light. Restricted in the exhaust but very easy to derestrict. And did I mention they were very light?
There were also 2 other models of TZR. The Italian built ones with Brembo brakes. These were never officially imported but and meant to be very quick but vibrate a fair amount. There was also another TZR imported officially but they didn't sell that well.
There was also the later RG125 with a steel beam frame (painted to look like alloy). Easy to derestrict as you cut a single wire to enable the power valve.
All the best

What you want Son is the RGV Wolf, not the RG
I have once rode an RG125, not sure what model, quite small, kickstart, very light as keith mentioned, i dont think the front disc was all that big either.
Quite a funny little bike to ride though ____________________ Regards

I think the RGV is a 250cc. An RG 250 is an old paralell twin, and an RGV 250 Wolf is a V twin.
I didn't think there was an RGV125. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade

Modded bikes don't sell, generally because mods reduce reliability and often look shit. Modding a 125 is rather pointless because its a 125, a bike to piss about on with L plates until you pass your test and get a real bike.
If you really want to mess around with it, get a K&N filter as Kris said in another post, fuck up your mixture with it, and have a bike that runs poorly for all the time you have it. Certainly don't get a racing pipe, as it will cost over half the value of the bike, and the stock suzuki pipe is good for about 22bhp.
Basically, if you have £250 knocking around, spend it on some training and test, get your 33bhp restrictiction ticking away. As probably everyone on here will tell you, spending money on a 125 isn't worth it. |

On re reading the thread, Being that you're only 14, sell the RG and buy a Motocross bike and start Schoolboy Motocross. This will make you into a better rider than anything you can add to a 125. This is also a good stepping stone to road racing. Chris Walker of WSB fame started in Motocross, as did Colin Edwards and Neil Hodgson (I think). Do that for a few years and you'll be faster on the road than any of us. ____________________ British beauty: Triumph Street Triple R; Loony stroker: KR1S; Track fun: GSXR750 L1; Commuter Missile: GSX-S1000F; Cheap project: CBR900RR FireBlade
