I'm glad the government said that.

An extra bit in the test about biker awareness won't stop people pulling out and knocking someone off, nor will it stop people spinning off into hedges.

About time the majority of bikers got their heads out of the sand and realised the only way not to get knocked off is to ride defensively and assume everyone is out to get you.

One sessions on a moped and you think new car drivers will suddenly think "Oh, must look out for bikes!"

On my CBT which the first time I had ver been on the roads, I didn't have a near miss at all, so i'm pretty sure it would make naff all difference.

I disagree.

If you look at countries where there is a much greater use of mopeds at a younger age (italy and France for example) there is a much greater awareness of motorcycles by car drivers. I can only assume this is down to their experiences of riding 'peds from the age of 14 to 16/18 when they could start driving a car.

I'm saying 1 session on a 2 wheeled motorcycle will not do anything, sustained long term experience will, but that is impractical. Jesus. Rolling Eyes

Also, why limit it to just motorbikes?
Push bikes are pretty vulnerable to. Suspect horse riders would also be annoyed the bikes got special treatment - so everyone should also be made to ride a horse for an hour or two on the road before they can ride their motorbikes. Bet that'd be an eye opener to the people that take pride in scaring horses.

Remember we live in a democracy. That DOES NOT mean you choose which policies the government implements; that means that you choose the government you believe will do the best in implementing your views; a big difference.

I'm sure the money could be spent much better.
For instance a general 'advanced driving' course to be taken when people have certain amount of experience, etc.
