The last time it chucked it down I happened to be coming home on my bike; I got well and truly soaked, even my waterproof boots filled up with the water running through my jeans and down my legs!

So I've now started looking for waterproof clothing! I already have a textile jacket, but havn't got any armor for it yet, so I usually wear my black leather one, which I prefer anyway. But my main focus is on trousers at the moment; I'm after camo one, I was thinking about these, but I'm after opinions:

URBAN CAMO WATERPROOF TROUSERS

Are they too cheap?
Would you trust them?
etc...

Cheers all!

Well my waterproof trousers cost £19.99 from a bike shop.... Amazingly after 18 months they are still keeping water at bay.

Price is not everything.

Dutch army issue gore-tex trousers are superb. Usually go for about £25 in army surplus shops.

Agricultural merchants sell trousers of a make called 'flexothane'. These are also very waterproof. Don't buy cheap imitations of them.

I actually have those exact trousers, they keep the water out no problem, and when I came off they did alright - didn't get any road rash or an bruise on my knee. Good buy for the money.

You can get Knox armour on offer from Infinity at the moment, but size it up from Knox before you buy, it's Advance-X that they're selling Thumbs Up

@ stinkwheel: I was tempted to grab some Goretex ones the last time I was in an army shop, but I don't have any armoured trousers; at the moment I ride around in jeans, but I'm starting to get worried that I'll come off and need new knee-caps!

@ AngelGrinder: That is exactly what I needed to hear! Cheers bud!

@ LeeR: I keep meaning to head down to HG to get them to measure up and see what I need. But I'll have a browse at the Infinity site, cheers mate.

My advice is your local camping store.

I had 2 sets of bike water proofs, okayish for normal rain, but not this July weather.

I bought breathable Regata over trousers and a jacket in like XXL size ie so they would easily go over my leathers.

I was very very very impressed with them. Only came to about £45, much easier than the 1 piece bike ones I had.

They have a full length zip, which makes them easy to get on whilst your out, with this constant on off rain they have been a godsend.

I won't be buying bike specific waterproofs ever again.

Royal Navy pusser's foul weather trousers for teh win!

I've just pulled my old spare set out from under the bed, haven't worn them for 2 years, am 2 stone heavier, and they still fit over my kevlar lined jeans!

Perfect for being caught in sudden rainstorm, but I'd prefer something with a bit of knee armour in.

I recently bought a pair of own brand waterproof overtrousers from Hein Gericke, and can't fault them.

They had their most severe weather test so far on Sunday when I rode back from Oakwood to Cardiff in the pouring rain.

Still got mine, not been on a bike for over a year though... Sad

Nice and warm, so good for the winter. Want some summer knee protection when I get back on a bike, but that can wait until I get the CX on the road!
