How long would my JM Star 50cc moped take for it to be classed as run in for? Is it about 400 miles or is it something less?

If you're on about a new piston. A few hundred miles to ease the engine in should do it.

With my 70cc piston kit on my 50cc bike.

I spent 50 miles doing mostly 20mph, then racing a few twats tbh which I shouldn't have done but did no harm.

A further 150 miles doing mostly 30mph.

Then I rode it gently at a steady 40mph for about 100 miles.

Then just..rode gently for so many miles, then eased her up now and then..then let her rest. etc. 500 miles is definately safe. I should say about 200-300 to ease a new piston on a 50cc

ok thanks. Ive done just over 200 km on mine at the moment. Can any engine upgrades (the piston parts or something) fit on any engine or are they all identical?

you can get nitrous oxide injector kits, and if you could find a turbo small enough you could get one of them.

the only problem is getting someone stupid enough/clever enough/brave enough to try it.

actually, you can double the pistons efficiency on 4 strokes by drilling a hole about 1cm below the spark plug into the cylinder, this lets more air in and acts as a turbo as the piston is forcing more air into the cylinder.
hope this helps, let us know if you want to try it and ill give you more details.

another one:

remove your spark plug and screw it in again hand tight, then from there, tighten it no less than 3 complete turns, you should start to find it easier to turn, this means that the spark is sealing itsself and you will have far more compression which will give you more power going up hills.
