ji,
just been out for a rie and am really annoyed, the council have been doing piss poor road surfaceing jobs all around my area for the last few weeks leavng gravel everywhere but tonight its all over my back roads which are national speed limits and there are 20mph and gravel sighns eerywhere! its basically just ruined my rideouts untill it is clear.
has anyone eles got a problem with this where they live?
basically im just pissed off that im paying my road tax and they spend it on chucking gravel all over my roads which is dangerous and bloody annoying when you hear it al hitting your bloody bike!
how long have they been doing this kind of piss poor maintainance for because i rekon i only noticed it about 10 years ago but mums bf rekons theyve always done it.
thanks

Hi, I see you don't live near me, but an area stretch of road about 3 miles here has that poorly laid surface with the 20mph zones. Very annoying and dangerous, shameful, and our hard earned money that contributed "tax" and "better, safer roads" wasted tbh.

Did a few roads round here recently and it was awful. But to be fair it has settled down very well in about 2 to 3 weeks and is fine now.

had loads of this done around my area to, but they did such a crap job that the new gravel has already worn down to the old surface! which would be fine if the whole road went but as its only small patches its nasty to ride over.

plus its mostly on a corner!

Noticed it 10 years ago and only just complaining about it?

Cant be a high priority then, same train of thought that the councils use. Problem - file it for 10 years - sort it.

I got word they'd done that on the roads approaching a rally I went to the other weekend. So I took my KLE motard instead of the VFR and had a piss about on it, had great fun riding along the deepest bit of gravel in the middle of the road kicking up stones all over the shop.

Not got any poor roads near me - Not to my knowledge anyhow but at work the car park area I gotta ride through is in a rough state. Gotta watch all the pot holes.
Ive only been over gravel roads once or twice - I didnt know untill just after a blind bend i see '20mph limit - loose gravel' by that point I was on it - Just glad I wasnt going any faster or im sure it would of been me off.

I almost lost the back end on the Wales rideout because I went round a corner too fast on a road that was being re-surfaced Embarassed

Its bad in around Ullapool at the moment they have re surfaced a lot of roads and not much warning when you come round a bend at 60 to find one sign where the gravel begins. Shocked It takes fecking ages for it to bed down well the stuff they use here, had cars overtaking me and the sh!te was flying everywhere.

Its either that or you go round a bend to find the tarmarc is split on both sides of the road leaving a nice shinny surface when its raining its a tad unsafe.

They top-dress the roads ever year, no biggie as its back to normal in a couple of weeks. Can't see how you can lose control on it unless you are blind as its not hard to spot the road signs and the new road surface. Wink

I seriously mean that you come round a bend to see the sign which is like 0 yards from the start of the new roads.
