Hey,

I know i'm not gonna set any land speed records on a 4t 125. I was wondering though, is it possible to tune a 4t to get to its top end a bit faster. I'm not really bothered about topping 70mph on my first bike but wouldn't mind getting to top speed a bit faster. Is it possible and is it cost effective? I have a bit of tuning epxerience with my car, change the air filter for an induction kit, full exhaust system and a camshaft. Is it the same with bikes?

Cheers

Ben

Hi

Yes you can tune it. Air filter is going to add next to nothing alone (be lucky to add 5%, and 5% of 10hp or so only gives you 0.5hp more, along with the down sides such as getting easily waterlogged). Exhaust might help if you can find one that works well (rather than something that someone has just chopped the baffles out of). Cam to suit the exhaust would also help, again if you can find one that works well. Port the head, raise the compression and maybe use a larger carb.

End result is likely to be a large bill for a couple of hp more.

All the best

Keith

If you've not bought it yet, why not consider a 2 stroke?
