Anybody playing this? Once you get past the glitches & bugs & added the mods the game is pretty decent, the visuals are probably the best i've seen in a game & they make up for the bad parts. It's quite creepy as when it gets dark it's pitch black & all you have is a little flash light. It's got loads of content & things to do & collect & quite a few weapons.
Alot of people have moaned about the guns not being accurate but the guns are actually very accurate meaning you can't just hit a headshot everytime as it depends on wind & bullet drop etc.
It's worth a play, isn't the best action i've seen in a game but definitely not the worst.

I've tried 2, one came up with an installation error and the other installed but then the game wouldn't run, despite trying every graphics drivers under the sun.

I get my torrents from mininova but couldn't tell you the exact releases. Unless you can recommend one...? I'm hesitant to try any others since they are usually 3-4gb and take an age to complete downloading.

Its a game I've looked forward to for quite some time, that and crysis. Just never got round to getting a copy.

The game seems really quite decent, the graphics are especially stunning.

Seems a bit buggy though, everytime I've gotten into it, I've gone so far then I seem to die of turbo hunger Laughing

No matter how much I eat, I just carry on getting hungry the second I move again until I pretty much fall over and die. Wtf Shocked

Have you tried the mods? I normally wouldn't bother with mods in games but they do wonders for this one. The Realism mod changes alot of things in the game including eating, you get hungry alot less. That & a gun mod which changes the skins.

Same with me, it seems the game is poorly optimized so even on some decent set-ups they're still having problems.
I'm able to run full dynamic lighting but only with dynamic shadows turned off, otherwise it lags too much.

Windows XP
AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 4000+, 2.4GHz
2048MB RAM
7600GT

It's your gfx card, the 7600GT isn't brilliant.
Other than that a Core 2 Duo will run it at full settings easy.

I had heard that it requires 2GB of RAM as well.

I played it pretty much non-stop for a week and completed it, earlier this month. Graphics were pretty impressive, and very atmospheric. I enjoyed the inventory system, although it was difficult to really see much effect from many of the artifacts, and I didn't really see much point in the trading - I never ran out of money and I wasn't really trying!

The ending was a bit of an anti-climax too, but the ongoing story was good, and some bits fighting large numbers of stalkers or attacking bases were brilliant, especially once you start getting NATO weaponry (although I found the SA80 pictured above pretty naff).
