I have one in the engine on my KLE500, it's been in there for a good 30k miles of hard riding and doesn't appear to be causing any problems thus far.
Remember to soak the plates in oil overnight before you fit them. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

The fiddliest bit is getting the old paper gasket off the cover. Otherwise, as said, undo five or six bolts, slide the old plates out, slide the new ones in and reassemble. The actual clutch dismantling/reassembling bit takes 10-15 minutes.
I never bothered rubbing the plates down, I do soak them in oil overnight as per the instructions on the box.
You will need a new clutch cover gasket.
You can even do it without dropping the oil on most bikes if you lean them way over to the right hand side. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”

i drained the oil, easier plus bike needs new oil to soak in. if you get a good grip on the nut with your ratchet it shouldnt spin the basket, also if u still find it hard, put it into first, if it still turns and your having issuses get a mate to lock the back wheel using the rear brake. if the chain cant move then that gives you a better chance. ____________________ Haz ER-5, innit! |
