Just a general question to highlight the 360 hardware shitness.

Ive just placed my second xbox of the year in a cardboard coffin and phoned the polish embassy to arrange a replacement. Since going online Ive noticed that a lot of people have a gripe to do with hardware failures. I know the rings of death are a problem but in the last three weeks Ive spoken to people with disc drive failure, 3 red lights of death for the FOURTH time, a guy whos control pad simply give up and last night a mate from leed's headset broke. Another mate from work keeps the packaging and receipt from his wireless headset next to the xbox so he can return it with ease when it chips out.

So who has had the most boxes then??

My xbox 360 never worked properly since the day I took it out of the box. It used to come up with the red rings with the code E71 I think...now it doesn't....now it randomly comes up with cannot read disc errors on a white background. Despite the disc being original and unscratched.

Official wireless controller loves to switch itself off at times too...despite hvaing new batteries.

Im on my 2nd 360. In saying that though I used to have to turn my original playstation upside down to get it to work, my ps2 would rarely play dvd's from new and my original xbox went through 3 dvd drives. The 360 isnt the only console that breaks...
Bring back cartridges I say, all these moving parts just cause problems. Id imagine they would be able to do something like this again nowadays with the size some phone memory cards are, huge storage capacity in a cartridge should be easy.

1st 360 (First batch out) 400+ for it - And it didnt even work right once we turned it on. Some of the lights were flashing - Pile of shit.
Left it few hours - Then worked fine.
But it broke not so long ago - know what the problem is - brought a new part and nothing still. Im wanting the PS3 and think we should sell the box/games (over 1k of stuff) But mrs wants to buy another and keep the games Thinking

The thing what pissed us off is Microsoft wanted £80 to fix it Thumbs Down warranty had just ran out the month before - Oh and again Microsoft did 'free yrs warranty' on all first consoles out - thought that was are jail free card - Only to find out they didnt do it since the month it broke Thumbs Down

With my original breakdown Microsoft wanted £80 to fix it even though it was just out of warranty. I talked them round to a free fix with a bit of verbal in the end though. Mentioned that it was a great reward for being in the first wave of buyers for the new machine, that the dawning of the microsoft vs ps3 was round the bend and that it was unlikely I would buy another box.

My ps2 was crap for DVD's, although when it did bother its arse to play them I found it better than the original xbox.

Still waiting for UPS to come collect the patient!

Elite is black.

Mainly HDMI Port and HDMI AV Cable as new features and 120GB HardDrive.

https://www.xboxelite.co.uk/images/360elite-package.jpg

Might have the same faults tho, I'd suspect there'd be patches out by then that covers all sorts of niggles.

Yeah, you can download as many demo/videos/arcade games as you want then, I'm always filling mine up with demos from xbox live.

No different to playstation 2's. I got through 4 of them and I didn't even go on it very often.

I got my PS2 and it lasted ages - Shame I sold it really.
But, as above not the same scale 400+ I paid for something that breaks with little use.

Im still waiting for mine to be picked up.

I read today that the elite has a little tweak on the graphics card to bring it closer to the PS3, and is out on friday costing 300 notes. They knocked 30 quid off the original box from what I hear which isnt very much in my book.

Im thinking of passing on the next original box they send back for a fair price and picking up the 'leet' version. I know that they break but the fun to be had inj the mean time is excellent.

As for the wii, Ive got one sat in my hallway that a mate has loaned me. I have to be honest (and apologies to all wii fans) sat there in the bag I have no interest in it whatsoever. I only got it off him so my bird could have a go (she better not like it cos Im not bying one lol).

Back onto xboxes and the reliability, I had my original box for 13 months and never really hammered it that much. Since I got my newer box I have been caning it on xbox live in an attempt to stay off the beer (in the pub beers anyway, having many many at home unfortunately!!) and its only lasted a few months.

As for a 120gig hard drive, I have 9.5gig left on my current drive but havent downloaded much. MS are about to release online downloads of HD movies and TV shows, that could add up I think!!

Wink

Got my 1st Xbox on release day(1st batch). Was fine, Lasted about a year until i had the ring flashing like a disco ball. Hammered it nearly everyday.

On 2nd now, working fine though don't play much.

And i like Xbox's and Microsoft. They accept their problems and resolve them in a timely manner unlike Sony. I had 13 PS2's when i used to be a sony fanboy. Frigin 13...absolute joke.
