Yep you should inform them by rights. To do this you just fill in the relevant section on the log book (V5) and send it off.

Mine is listed as white, never been asked about it when pulled by the police, been pulled a few times too. As per my avatar it's clearly red.

I wouldn't bother. My Repsol is down as blue on the V5. Rolling Eyes Laughing

May as well tell them - it's free of charge and they won't need to see it or anything. Just send the logbook with the colour box filled in and they'll send you out a new one.

Had to do it for my old van and it only took a week for the new one to arrive - think that's the fastest the DVLA have ever acted!

I wonder where they use the coloured bit to define its colour? ,

my CBR is noted down as red , but only the tank and top fairing is red , the rest is blue

Itchy, technically you should list every colour, so if it's red white and blue then you should put that on the registration document I think.

I would notify , if only not to get pulled over by traffic police who i think now days can check such details about your bike and if they saw a blue bike that was supposed to be red they might think is was stolen.

my 400 had a Nastro paint job when i got it from the dealers but when the V5 arrived in my name it showed red/white/blue which were the original colours, so i wrote to them explaining in detail the various colours and got the V5 back showing Multi Colour, so id i ever tire of that paint job can change it to what ever i feel like without having to do anything

My CBR was red, white and blue (american import) on the log book it says red/multi.

It went for its MOT last friday, the tester said as it is now black, i would have to tell DVLA of the change of colour.

He also said that if i was stopped by the police for any reason, and they wanted to be alkward, i could be fined £19 for it having the wrong colour on the log book. I know £19 isn't much, but its better in my pocket than theirs, and changing the colour on the log book only costs the price of a stamp. Very Happy

I've notified the DVLA twice that my Jawa is now green and not black. They just sent the V5 back unaltered so I figure if they want to think it's black that badly, it's no skin off my nose.

I have a plan should I be unlucky enough to damage the plastics on my bike.

That is to get the bits in any colour from breakers and/or eBay.
Then simply put them on the bike.

Sort of create, for want of a better phrase, a 'united colours of benetton' effect.
My inspiration for this comes from this image...

Don't know what that'd come under with the DVLA though Wink Razz

TBH, one panel needs replacing anyhow but as it's only the one I'm trying to get matching colour.

Thumbs Up
