Ok....i seem to over looked a fair few things...
I dont really have any more detail as yet. I am just in the first steps of planning a long haul 9K+ trip round Europe (bike yet to be decided) and was just after some general guidelines as to how long tyres last on touring bikes... i.e. 5k,6k,7k e.t.c. and wether i would need to change them mid trip.
Thanks anyway |

Well like it has been said it depends on a lot of factors but I doubt you would get 9K out of even a hard compound touring 'style' rear tyre. You should get 9K out of a front though. ____________________ Yamaha YZF-R6 |

budget 7-8k+
Touring means double 'Static' loads. These increase when moving/stopping/starting.
Two up even more.
No racing or backing it into bends etc. Keep pressures at optimum.
Carry a puncture kit or have sureseal injected into the tyres. I only got 16 miles from a rear Bridgestone two years ago. ____________________ W-ireless A-rtificial L-ifeform L-imited to O-bservation P-eacekeeping and E-fficient R-epair |

I got my current bike with a virtually new rear 010 on, least it looked pretty new. Currently done nearly 5000 miles on it and it's squaring off a bit now and getting close to the limit in the middle, might squeeze another 1000 out if i'm lucky, been running "somewhat" low pressures most of this year though due to some slightly slack judgement so that's probably increased wear quite a bit.
I certainly don't bimble, but im confident I have a very different riding style to the majority of people, my brake pads last longer and so does my fuel... 180 out of a tank can be got from the Blade aslong as i'm not commuting. |

Some little nob near me is going around on his GSXR600 srad, telling everyone that his gone through 4 rear tyres in 2 months!
And even better - that each new rear tyre costs £250!
Just wanna slappa-his-face! ____________________ 04 zx10r with mods - 187.4bhp at the wheel! :o |

Even riding in a touring style you're still going to need a 2nd rear tyre for sure but the front might last you.
It really isn't difficult to get one in any major town in Western Europe - you may find they are cheaper in fact
Just make sure you aren't in a remote part of Transylvania or something ... |
