Hi All Very Happy . Have been lurking for a while but would now like some help.

I sold my first bike 8 years ago (GSXR400). I never felt it was the best 1st bike for me but there you. However things like marriage and a new house happened and my husband and I sold our bikes. So now we're a little older and wiser Wink and are getting back into bikes again. We've bought a Kawasaki ER6N and my husband is collecting it in a weeks time. I'm really looking forward to it BUT I'm so nervous and scared that I'll forget everything Embarassed Is it really like riding a bike - it'll all come back to me? Wish I could put stabilisers on it Laughing

Any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.

That phase says it all, you'll be fine riding it, you've just got to worry about everybody else.
I'm sure if you could ride a bike 8 years ago you can ride it now no problem.
Good luck Thumbs Up

If your worried....take it on an quiet industrial estate one evening and ride round there for a bit, or if that doesnt do it....just book a little refresher lesson...say a couple of hours....what will that be - £40 quidish?.

I think you will find the ER6 very easy to ride,....easier than your old gsxr400.

Was trying to think of a large quiet carpark, but yes, an industrial estate sounds much better - we'll do that Thumbs Up

yes I hope it'll be easier to ride, the GSXR was hard work, got the the point where I didn't enjoy riding it.

Just take your time and ease yourself back into it, you should be fine. ER-6N seems like a sensible choice for your situation. Enjoy!

Most of it is floating around inside your memory you just need to give it time to surface and give yourself time to adjust.

I've said it before but it really is the truth, the only thing that gives you confidence to ride, is riding.

Take it easy and everything will be cool.

Or if your feeling brave, chuck yourself in the deep end. Come out of your road at 60, try to get your knee down. Take the next island at 50, get it up to top speed and back down in time for the next junction, straight out and cut up the traffic. Out run the cops at speeds of over 100mph, im sure itll all come back to you very quickly then Thumbs Up

Or do what I do, once you get the bike, take it for a nice long ride, a couple of hundred miles. Take your time and just get used to the feel of the bike, get used to the lines you need to take round corners etc. I always do that when I get a new bike, to get used to it. Works really well Smile

just get on and ride , there is no substitute for experience of putting on miles loads and loads of them.

please don't worry.

It's even more nerve-racking trying to go back on a bike after being crashed into.

After sliding out on about 7 corners in the rain/ice/snow and replacing so many indicators. lol.

but i still do Smile i love biking

Very Happy I'm sure you'll be absolutley fine.

Your heart will be racing, and you'll be breathing heavy, but in no time at all, you'll be grinning like a cheshire cat and be wondering what all the fuss was about. Laughing

Just take it slow, be carefull, and it'll all come flooding back.

Have fun.
