right i need the help of the wonderful and wise of BCF i have a bit of a dilemma.
I have a Bandit 600, Which currently has around the 20k mark on the clocks, Speaking now it has a FUBAR'd Swingarm/linkages which i have replacement parts for sitting behind me,
My problem is the downpipes, I will need a new set due to some damage, and i have wanted to change the end can to something a bit jucier since i got the bike.
Now i got a call the other day of some guy wanting to buy an old heap of a previous bike that has just been lying around for 400 quid, now im taking that ofc, my dilemma is:
Do i spend 300+ on shiney new full exhaust system, Get my passport go tour France and Spain for a week or two, then come back and sell my bandit shortly after (Baring in mind it would then have, a bran dnew full stainless exhaust system, likely under 25k on the clock, stainless Crash Bars, and everything else is totally standard (no tack or anodised bits), and then try and get a decent price for the bandit to go towards my next bike...
OR
Do i get the swingarm repaired so the bike is a runner (with a blowing to fuck exhaust), and then try and make a quick sale but with most likely a reduced price and no europe touring for me either.
So in conclusion,
A) Fix the bike up at my great expense, have a reliable bike for touring europe for a while, then try and get a good price for it
or
B) Do the absolute minimum to make it a runner and try and offload asap for less than its worth
As our world is full of false dichotomies this thread will be no different, so there will be no option C.

If it's for personal or temporary use, I always opt for(and love) bodging
But as it's for value and not your use in the bigger picture, only real option Imo is to get it properly fixed. ____________________ Roger wrote: Women don't get damp for clingy puppies. Get some better happy pills, hit the gym & buy a medallion the size of a dinner plate. Job done |

Option C is a possibility, You quote was right around the same mark everyone charges for new downpipes sickpup, which is fair enough. but thats more to do WHERE i get the parts from, not IF i get them in the first place
I think i was leaning towards option A anyway, but i am still interested to hear any opinions from the (B) Camp. Or is it just a false economy? |
