Do you have the B category on your licence? , I think B covers trikes and robin reliants etc,

you could always buy one of those BMW city commuters with a roll / weather cage, v heavy for a 125cc though there is a bigger cc version , UK law killed that BMW though since BMW wanted it to be exempted from helmet laws , its also a bit erm iffy looking.

You can drive any car... if you display front and back 'L' plates on it, and as long as you have somebody over the age of 21 who has been driving for a minimum of 3 years.

...which most probably won't help you a bit!

I think you might be ok with a milk float, golf buggy or a tractor.

I'll go and check.

You can drive a tractor lawnmower... not sure about proper tractors...

Have you thought about a quad, then bodging a cover on it?

As you have knowledge of the road already (from a bike), have you thought about taking a car test?

Pretty sure you can ride a quad...

...and I think that convertable would need a car licence... I'll check what the 'A' and 'B' mean for you...

You can drive an Aixam 500, however don't buy the convertible one, buy the one in the link below, it's a bit more practical (it has 4 seats like a normal car as well as a small boot). My father being a motor mechanic I have seen quite a few of these and they don't actually look too bad in real life, the interior is just like a normal car, they have belt driven (fully automatic gearboxes) 500cc diesel engines and can do upto 50mph which isn't exactly that bad since the fastest you can legally go here in England is 70mph. Anyway good luck and I hope this post helps...

Slighlty older but cheaper one:

Thumbs Up

Stolen from DVLA form 'INS57P':

A1: Light mototcycles with a cubic capacity not exceeding 125cc and a power output not exceeding 11kW (14.6bhp). (min age 17)

A: Motorcycles up to 25kW (33bhp) and a power to mass ratio not exceeding 0.16kW/kg. (min age 17)

A: Any size motorcycle with or without a sidecar. (min age 21)

B1: Motor tricycles/quadricycles up to 559kg unladen. (min age 17)

B: To be simple... cars! (min age 17)

B Auto: Automatic cars only. (min age 17)

B+E: Cars with trailors... (min age 17)

...so a quad would need a 'B1', as would a trike. Don't forget to look at the codes on the paper counterpart to your licence, as I swear they don't put everything on the card!

Hope that helps!

well i just looked on my counter part and it says nothing at all, under provisinal entitlement it says B and F but nowere does it say anything else! and on the back of my card it says A and thats it!

so i guess il just have to give up the idear and get wet!

how do you get a B1??? any 1 know that?

I do believe the Aixam comes under trike for some reason, I spoke to someone in the DVLA and they told me it comes under Rigid Axel Vehicle classifications basically making it in the same class as Robin Reliant...

Hmmm... perhaps the B1 entitlement is thrown in when you get your full car licence...

The back of my card has:
B
B1
f
k
p

...but then I have a full car licence, and am a learner (125cc, CBT) on a bike...

Yeah, I got the 'Driver Licensing Information' 'INS57P' form right infront of me now...

I assumed that the 'B1' entitlement would be thrown in on a full bike licence, as it was thrown in on a full car one...
