I was caught doing 48 in a 40 on an empty dual carriageway by one of these things sat in a bus stop lay-by earlier this year. There was no prior warning of the van being there either.

For the next two or three months, I spent most of my time driving down that road concentrating more on my speedo than the road ahead.

Safe huh?

Yea we've got a few of those round here. "Kent Safety Camera Partnership" plain white vans with the back window open. I've been toying with the idea of parking the bike just down the road in a side street, pulling on a balaclava and getting out half a snooker cue and teaching the 'operator' a lesson. See, they're not coppers themselves and as such can't arrest you etc. If I was successful and even damaged the camera and then run off maybe the 'volunteer' may not be happy to go back to the job Very Happy

What makes you think he/she would be up for a snooker lesson, especialy in a layby. Wink

Surely he is going to be more interested in flashing people with his little toy.

Plenty of the scamera highwaymen are already off work with stress from the abuse they receive from the public (although I have difficulty thinking of anything that you could call them that would be anything other than a compliment). Some of the scamera partnerships now open their post wearing rubber gloves.

These scamera schemes are about as popular as a dose of the clap at an orgy.

All the best
