mp3 player in-car radio tuner thingys...

sorry about message title, its been a long day Wink

Right, basically im in and out of different cars all day at work, and im thinking of getting an mp3 player and an in-car radio tuner so i can listen to my tunes - any experiance of them? i need something quick and faff free, the radio (apart from moyles) is doing my head in! Laughing

surely you can source a cheap mp3 player and a fm trasmitter unit off ebay.

probably the simplest option.

of course you could spend more and do the ipod thing as they have a unit made specifically for that

Tried one, got naffed off with the battery life.

If any of the work cars have tape decks, the old 'cassette on a wire' is by far the best option.

Got one of the Belkin type ones. It's not a Belkin branded one it just looks the same and has the same features. I run it through the 12v lighter socket. It's rubbish.

It's not strong enough to transmit over the top of radio stations using the same frequency. When it does it's intermittent and crackly.

Used to have a similar model but with fixed frequencies set by a slider at the side. This was far better but sadly batteries left in it so doesn't work anymore.

Best bet would be to check if your head unit in the car has an AUX in and then see if you can put a lead to plug the MP3 into that.

Problem is a lot of the cars have cd units, so unfortunatley the 'cassette on a wire' wont work - i think its either an fm transmitter or nothing really.. Sad

Cheapo fm transmitter will do you but they can get a lot of static noise i found.
